Four In A Row At the Glen

Watkins Glen, NY (June 8, 2008) - Continuing his domination at Watkins Glen, Randy made it four in a row in World Challenge races at The Glen with another win today, this time in his #1 K-PAX/3R Racing Porsche 911 GT3. Randy started from the pole and immediately got a great jump at the standing start and never looked back. Tommy Archer's Viper gave Randy a good race but eventually fell out with engine problems. From then on it was pure domination, with Randy averaging a series course record 103.866 mph..

"Watkins Glen is my kind of place! I'm thrilled. This was a really a race we were not expected to win. We were not the fastest but we had a combination of factors, including our qualifying position and consistent set-up, that kept us in the lead. A surprising factor, and huge advantage, was that our car was able to run flat out in the high speed Esses of turns two and three. The Viper could not so he wasn't able to exploit his horsepower advantage on the long straight."

"The one issue we had was a tremendous high speed vibration in the tires. It was so bad that my glasses were bouncing on my nose and my vision was blurring. The tire had slipped on the rim which is a fairly common problem but it made things interesting for awhile. This win is really a credit to our KPAX team and our new car chief Paul and engineer Will Moody, who did a great job preparing the car."

"I would like to dedicate this win to my step-daughter Kelly Blevins. Also our Team Janica Racing friends David and Janice Stevoff were at the race and served as good luck charms. I would like to thank them as well as my other personal sponsors Prairie Hills Motorsport Club, ChaseCam, and saferacer.com for their continued support."

With this win, Randy moves back into first position in the points over Andy Pilgrim. This was Randy's 11th professional race win at The Glen and his 20th-career World Challenge win. Teammate Michael Galati finished third. The SCCA SPEED GT race at Watkins Glen will air on Wednesday, June 18 at 1 PM ET on SPEED. Randy's next race will be at Mosport, Ontario on June 16 with the KONI Challenge series. The next World Challenge race will be at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course July 18-20.
