Denver, CO - WC Vision announced today the teams that have secured 36 spots for the 2014 Round 3 GT/GT-A/GTS race at Long Beach, as part of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend. The maximum number of entries for this event is capped at 40.
The four remaining promoter options and approved alternates will be announced Friday, February 28th leading up to the April 11-13 event.
Among the drivers included on the list released today is the winner of the 2009 and 2013 Long Beach races, James Sofronas and his No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 Ultra. Sofronas will be racing in the GT class. Also listed today, racing for the first time at Long Beach, is Alec Udell and his Motorsports Development Group/Watson Racing No. 17 Ford Mustang Boss 302R. Udell will compete in the GTS class.
"As a two-time winner at Long Beach, this race is very special to myself and GMG, but it's even more special as it's 30 minutes from our shop and all of our local clients and supporters come out to cheer us on," said Sofronas. "We will be campaigning five Audi R8 Ultras for this race so we can't wait until this event kicks off in less than two months!"
"The Long Beach Grand Prix represents one of the most popular events in motorsports today," said 18-year-old Udell. "My age for the last two seasons excluded me from racing in Long Beach. I'm really excited to finally be a part of the sports car competition in the Pirelli World Challenge. I'm especially looking forward to competing in our new Watson Racing Ford Mustang in the GTS field."
