Goiânia is ready for Brazilian V8 Stock Cars round 3

After the All-Star Race, opening the 2016 Brazilian V8 Stock Car season, and the double-header held at the calendar’s shortest racetrack, major Brazilian racing series lands in Goiânia to host the third round of the championship. Teams and drivers face the weekend as the first ‘normal’ race of the year - as the season-opener held only one race (in which the drivers had to share their cars with other guests) and the second round had no pit stops.

The Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna circuit is 3,835 long and sets a standard, as it is the average size of almost all the racetracks in the country. Therefore, the regulations come to normal for the weekend and drivers expect a chess game and varying strategies.

The pit stops are no longer mandatory, but in Goiânia they are necessary as for the high fuel consumption caused by the heat, as for the left-side tyres wear and the abrasion of the tarmac. No changes can be made between races one and two.

Race one is 45 minutes plus one lap long, and the driver willing to win the weekend-opener will have to sacrifice his result on race two (30 minutes plus one lap), as he will be forced to pit in not to run out of fuel. Although not mandatory, they can only make their pit stops on race one before the 35th minute of the race.

Daniel Serra is the current leader of the standings with 37 points, only three ahead his teammate Cacá Bueno. Young ace Felipe Fraga holds 31 points. With ten rounds to go, the championship is wide open yet, and the Goiânia race is about to open the contention and show the real strength of each competitor.
