The 15-year-old Lessard captured the CARS Tour championship in 2016 with four race victories and eight top-5 finishes.

The driver of the No. 99 FRL Express/Team Coach Imaging/Toyota/JBL Audio Toyota Camry will again race for David Gilliland Racing. Lessard’s season will kick off January 29th with the SpeedFest of the CRA series at Watermelon Capital Speedway.

In line with the strategy decided by his business agent, Robert Desrosiers, David Gilliland Racing and Toyota TRD, Lessard will race in five different stock car categories this season: CRA, CARS, PASS, SSS and ARCA to gain as much experience as possible this year.

Toyota also invited the young Canadian to contest three rounds of the prestigious ARCA series. Two of these races have been confirmed so far: the Nashville ARCA 200 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on April 8th and the Winchester ARCA 200 at Winchester Speedway on August 6th. The third race will be announced soon. In ARCA, Lessard will be driving for Venturini Motorsports of Billy Venturini.

“I’m excited and I look forward to a great season,” said Lessard. “I will contest several races that are 400-laps long plus three ARCA races. It will be a great learning experience for me and I’d like to thank Gilliland Racing and Toyota for their support. I’m eager to be back behind the wheel of my race car. To take part in three ARCA races is a fantastic news.”

Lessard will attend the CARS Tour year-end banquet next week and will also visit David Gilliland Racing’s new workshops in Morrisville, North Carolina.
