International Supermodified Association announces 18-race schedule for 2004 with some new and many old familiar venues.

Oswego, NY - The International Supermodified Association has recently finalized their 2004 schedule, which will include two new venues and several tracks that they have been away from for some time. In all 18 racetracks compile the upcoming race season which begins on May 1 at Star Speedway.

New additions to the ISMA slate of events are Wall Township in New Jersey and Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Ohio. Wall Speedway is a stalwart 1/3-mile that has been a favorite of asphalt racing fans that also enjoy the Jersey Shore. Wall has been remodeled for 2004 with all new bleachers, automated electronic timing and fan scoreboard and updated eating and restroom facilities. They will also welcome the fastest asphalt short track cars - the winged Supermodifieds - with May 15 75-lapper.

Mansfield Motorsports Speedway has been hosting the MSA Supermodifieds for the past several seasons with much success and in 2004 will add the ISMA supermodified organization to their schedule on August 13 and 14 in a format similar to the traditional Sandusky Speedway Nationals weekend. On August 13, Mansfield will run a 40 lapper topped off by a 100-lapper on August 14. The winged supers will be run in combination with the popular 410 sprints on Friday and the Compact Figure 8's on Saturday. Mansfield is located off exit 176 of Rt. I-71 in Ohio. ISMA also returns to two former race sites in Jennerstown Speedway in Pennsylvania and Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut during the summer. ISMA began a 12-race run at Jennerstown in 1988, running two shows there that year under the Magnum banner with Bentley Warren taking both races. Races were run at this famous facility yearly through 1996 with Eddie Bellinger Jr., Gary Morton, Pat Abold, Mike Ordway and Chris Perley joining Warren as winners. Skipping a few years, ISMA returned in August of 1999 where tragedy struck as the supermodified racing fraternity lost young Randy Witkum in a devastating accident. Mike Ordway won the 100 lapper that day, but it was declared a non-point race in respect for their fallen comrade. The supers will return to Jennerstown on June 26 with a 75-lap event slated.

The historic Stafford Speedway in Connecticut has run supermodified races on five occasions over the years but most were before some of the current ISMA drivers were born. One man dominated the five events and not only was he a winner at Stafford in 1968, 1969 and 1980, but he also finished second to Todd Gibson in the fall of 1968 show. The July 15, 1980 show was the only ISMA sanctioned event with the group forming in 1975 and running their first point shows in 1976. Warren, a legend in racing, is amazingly will be vying for yet another win when the supers return to Stafford on July 14, 2004. Warren, unofficially second on the all-time ISMA win list, picked up a feature win at Seekonk Speedway in 2003. Seekonk hosts that same event on May 2, 2004.

May events for ISMA include races at Star, Seekonk, Wall and Oswego Speedway. In June the winged warriors travel to Toledo, Sandusky and Jennerstown as aforementioned.

July finds ISMA at Stafford for a Wednesday show and at Oxford Plains the following Friday night, July 16. Sandusky hosts their traditional doubleheader on July 23-24.

Swinging into August, the ISMA supers head for Mansfield for another doubleheader show and then to Lee USA for their traditional August 20 event.

It's back to Oswego for the Classic weekend Saturday Super Nationals on the 4th of September and then to New England for the famed Star Classic 200 on the 11th. Seekonk rounds out September with their second show of the season on the 25th. And, as has been tradition, ISMA finishes up the point season at Thompson's World Series of Racing on October 16 and 17.
