ALAN JOHNSON WINS MAIN EVENT PLUS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP BY JUST ONE POINT AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY

BREWERTON, NY...Alan Johnson won only his second DIRT Big Block Modified feature race of the season last Friday at Brewerton Speedway. But, it was good enough to give the Jeff Rudalavage owned, Native Poker sponsored team the 2006 Brewerton Speedway Track Championship by just one point over Billy Decker. Johnson claimed $2,200 for the 40-lap victory which led the way to his fourth season championship at the D-shaped DIRT Demon.

Tony Buffa jumped out to the early lead at the start of the Whittaker's Trophy Auto Sales DIRT Big Block Modified main event from the pole starting position. Buffa only led one circuit, as Tom Sears took command of the field on lap two. Sears led a long portion of the event and would lead through lap-18. Tim Fuller took the top spot away from Sears on lap-19.

Fuller also enjoyed a long stay at the front of the field as he would lead through lap-34. It was on lap-35 when Alan Johnson took the lead away from Fuller. In the final five circuits Johnson was able to hold off the challenges by Fuller to earn the victory and the track title. Fuller held on for second with Danny Johnson, Chuck Bower and Billy Decker completing the top five feature finishers.

Mike Isabell, Darren Austin, Lowell Zehr and Kevin Donhauser rounded out the top five feature finishers. Devendorf took the top spot away from Dan Williams on lap-18 and never gave it back.

Chuck Powelczyk won his seventh 15-lap Four Cylinder Super Stock feature race last Friday night as well as his third track title at the D-shaped DIRT Demon.
