Bull Valley Speedway Joins ASA Racing Member Track Program With Attitude

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2004) -- It's no bull. The news that Bull Valley Speedway in Audubon, Iowa has joined as a Level I participant in the ASA Racing Member Track program is true.

With a track slogan of "It's Got Attitude," one expects Bull Valley Speedway to march to a different drummer, which they do with fun.

"We are trying to put the fun back into racing here at Bull Valley," said Jim Wiechman, track promoter. "At a lot of racetracks it is very tense, but that's not the case here. Our pit area is relaxed and everyone is having fun."

The track itself is a .40-mile, D-shaped dirt oval with high banking that, according to Wiechman, is a thrill to race.

"Once you put the throttle down you don't lift the entire race," he claimed. "It is a smooth and fast racetrack that nearly everyone seems to love. I hear very little negative things about the track from the drivers."

"This is one of those rare racetracks that everyone seems to enjoy racing," explained Dennis Huth, president of Racing Speed Associates which now owns and operates the ASA Racing Member Track program. "Jim has done an excellent job at creating an atmosphere that is fun for both the fans and the participants and believe me, that is no easy feat to keep everyone happy and smiling, which makes us happy they are aboard."

The regular Friday night program features the Modifieds, Bull Stock, Hobby Stock and Econo Stock classes. With opening day scheduled for May 6, anyone looking for information on the schedule or facility can visit www.bullvalleyspeedway.com or telephone (712) 563-2250.

Wiechman said there are no major changes planned for the 2005 season, although they do plan on reshaping the exit of Turn 2 prior to opening day.

Bull Valley Speedway ran two seasons as a non-sanctioned racetrack and Wiechman feels that the ASA Racing Member Track program will give them something they didn't have during those years -- an identity.

"We were fairly successful running as a non-sanctioned facility, but I do think that you need a sanction to give you an identity, and legitimacy," Wiechman explained. "I've worked as a NASCAR official for nearly 20 years and was familiar with what Dennis Huth had been doing in his roles with them over the years. I like what he is doing with the (ASA Racing) Member Track program and the national exposure that it will give to Bull Valley Speedway. Our car count should go through the roof this season, largely because we are affiliated with a national organization now."

Tracks and regional touring series that join the ASA Racing Member Track Level I program are eligible to receive contributions to their year-end point fund, marketing assistance, enhanced participant accident insurance, and will be the spot for today's fans to watch the stars of tomorrow learn the trade. Huth indicated that he has other exciting ideas and plans to help take the local racing programs to new levels and to further enhance the coverage of the tracks and series competitors.
