Chili Bowl Midget Nationals Winner Tim McCreadie Headlines Early Entry List for April 21-22 Colossal 100

CONCORD, N.C. (Jan. 31, 2006) - Late model ace Tim McCreadie, who shocked the open-wheel community by winning the prestigious Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, is among the early entrants for the April 21-22 Colossal 100 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Featuring posted awards of $200,000, the inaugural Colossal 100 will conclude with a 100-lap championship late model feature paying $50,000 to the winner. Thirty-six cars will take the green flag in the main event with each starter guaranteed at least $2,000.

In addition to revealing an entry list that already contains nearly 70 drivers from 25 states, officials of The Dirt Track announced the Colossal 100 has been granted special event status by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Kentucky-based sanctioning body will oversee the event's technical specifications and tire rule.

McCreadie, the 31-year-old son of DIRT modified legend "Barefoot" Bob McCreadie, followed in his father's footsteps and began competing in the DIRT modifieds at an early age. Then in 2004, the Watertown, N.Y., native turned his attention to the full-fendered machines and is now a regular on the World of Outlaws late model circuit where he won eight races in 2005 and finished third in the series point standings.

"The atmosphere in Charlotte is just fun," said McCreadie, who has competed at The Dirt Track in both late models and big-block modifieds. "It's a racing town, and it's a pleasure to race for the fans down there. I'm anticipating running really strong."

Joining McCreadie on the early entry list are fellow World of Outlaws drivers Chub Frank, Josh Richards and Clint Smith along with Earl Pearson Jr., the 2005 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion. Jackie Boggs, Dan Schlieper and Jimmy Owens, all late model feature winners on The Dirt Track's four-tenths-mile clay oval, are also among the early entrants as are veterans Donnie Moran and Freddy Smith.

Spread over two nights, the Friday portion of the Colossal 100 will feature group time trials and heat races. The top two finishers in each heat will secure a spot in the 100-lap finale and a draw will determine the starting line-up.

Saturday night's program begins with a driver autograph session and the on-track action includes at least two additional qualifying races prior to the main event. The Dirt Track's traditional late model format will be utilized, including the extremely popular double-file restarts where drivers can choose either the inside or outside line.

If purchased in advance, reserved tickets for both Friday and Saturday nights are $49 for adults and $19 for children ages 12 and under. Two-day pit passes are $60 in advance.
