CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 15, 2003) - Race fans will be able to fulfill their "need for speed" during the winter months as highlights of Lowe's Motor Speedway's 10th annual Summer Shootout Series will be televised by SPEED Channel on 10 consecutive Friday evenings beginning Nov. 21 and continuing through Jan. 23.
The 10 one-hour programs, featuring action from each of the series' 10 weeks, will air at 7 p.m. (EST). Veteran broadcasters Brian Drebber and Dave Sadowksi will call the action with Doug Rice, the voice of Performance Racing Network, reporting from the pit area.
The 600racing.com Summer Shootout Series telecasts will feature Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing as well as entertaining special attractions such as School Bus Races, One-on-One Spectator Races and Kids' Power Wheels Championship events.
In addition, the 600racing.com Summer Shootout Series telecasts will chronicle the exploits of rookie driver and veteran SPEED Channel broadcaster Ralph Sheheen. Sheheen drove the SPEED Channel-sponsored entry to a 10th-place finish in the Thunder Roadster point standings. His car carried an on-board camera throughout the series and radio conversations between Sheheen and his crew chief, Curt Andrews, were recorded.
The telecasts will also introduce viewers to several second- and third-generation racers such as Corey Lajoie, Brandon McReynolds, Matt Martin and Chrissy Wallace.
