ATLANTA (August 21, 2001) - Five races remain on the 2001 American Speed Association (ASA) schedule, and Joey Clanton and the No. 83 Zaxby's Real Chicken team intend to make sure each one counts. The team is gearing up for their next appearance at the half-mile, slightly banked oval of Jennerstown Speedway, located in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania in the southwestern part of the state.

The team performed well at the Pennsylvania track in their 2000 rookie season, notching a sixth place finish after qualifying for the 300-lap event in the third position. Despite a series of rain showers that delayed last year's event for four hours, the track has become a favorite on the ASA schedule, as the short track series has visited the facility 16 times in their 34-year history. The track is flat with brakes playing a major role in controlling the car. The Steve Dale Motorsports team is hoping to use their notes from their 2000 performance to capture their third victory of the season.

"We had a tough week at Madison and we need a strong finish at Jennerstown to help us gain points on second position," stated Clanton. "We had a great finish at Jennerstown last year and I have confidence in this Zaxby's Real Chicken team that we will improve on our sixth place finish. "

Clanton moved into the third position in 2001 driver points standings after last week's race at Madison International Speedway. The No. 83 Zaxby's team currently sits 85 points behind the second place team, and hopes that they will be able to make up that shortage before the checkered flag falls on the season finale race at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Jennerstown Speedway will host the American Speed Association on Sunday, August 26. The green flag will drop on the Pennsylvania 300 at 1 p.m. EST. The National Network (TNN Sports) will broadcast the 16th race on the 2001 ASA schedule live.
