Champion Racing Association Releases 2007 Schedules For CRA Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks and Newly Formed CRA F.W.D. Compacts

Salem, IN (January 23, 2007) -- Champion Racing Association officials have released the 2007 schedules for their CRA Sportsman Series, CRA Street Stocks and have released the schedule and rules for the newly formed CRA F.W.D. Compacts. Champion Racing Association also sanctions the CRA Super Series, that schedule was previously released on January 7th.

It will be the second season for the CRA Sportsman Series that saw an awesome points battle in 2006 that wasn't decided until the series final event. Keith Sterkowitz was the 2006 CRA Sportsman Champion, with Al Cook Jr. in second and Terry Fisher Jr. in third. The series had five different winners in the six events, with Al Cook Jr. winning two events, single event winners were Terry Fisher Jr., Scott Knepley, Rick Rinehart and Steve Blair.

The 2007 CRA Sportsman schedule will consist of 11 events at six different racetracks. The series will race at Winchester Speedway six times including the season opener on Saturday, May 5th with the ARCA RE/MAX Series weekend and the season championship event on Friday, October 12th part of the Winchester 400 weekend. The series will have two events on the ½ mile at Baer Field Speedway, with single events at Anderson Speedway, Shady Bowl Speedway, and at O'Reilly Raceway Park as part of the Inaugural Circle Track Nationals. The top ten in final series points will receive cash and prizes at the 2007 CRA Awards Banquet.

2007 will be the third season for the CRA Street Stocks after a tremendous second season that saw 121 different drivers participate. Veteran Central Indiana racer Joe Beaver won the 2006 series championship with consistent finishes through out the season. Chuck Cook came in second and was the series Rookie Of The Year. Brian Hopkins came in third place in series points. Beau Mitchell led the series in victories in 2006 getting five wins in the five events he raced in at Winchester Speedway including a victory in the 200 lap $5000 to win special event. Rich Boyer had two victories in the two events held at Anderson Speedway. Single event victories went to Joe Beaver, Brian Hopkins, Kevin Gunkel, and Craig Cookingham.

The 2007 CRA Street Stock schedule will consist of 14-point events and two non-point special events. The series will race at Winchester Speedway seven times including the 200 lap $5000 to win event on Sunday, September 16 and the season championship event on Saturday, October 13th part of the Winchester 400 weekend. The series will have two events at Anderson Speedway including the season opener on Saturday, April 14th and the 150-lap event with the traditional Anderson 400 on Saturday, August 4. The series will have two events at Plymouth Speedway, with single events at Baer Field Speedway and at O'Reilly Raceway Park as part of the Inaugural Circle Track Nationals. There is one event that is to be announced for Saturday, August 11th. The top ten in final series points will receive cash and prizes at the 2007 CRA Awards Banquet.

Champion Racing Association is pleased to announce the formation of the CRA F.W.D. Compacts for the 2007 season. The series will have eight events on their 2007 schedule, with seven of those events at Winchester Speedway including the season opener on Sunday, April 22 and the season championship event on Friday, October 12th part of the Winchester 400 weekend and one event on the ½ mile at Baer Field Speedway. The standard feature events will be 20 laps and will pay $150 to win. The series will have a special event at Winchester Speedway on Sunday, September 16th, that event will be 75 laps and will pay the winner $1500. The top ten in final series points will honored at the 2007 CRA Awards Banquet.
