39TH ANDERSON 400 SET FOR ANDERSON SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, JULY 16

ANDERSON, Ind. (July 5, 2005) ? One of the greatest short track traditions in American stock car racing, the 39th Annual Anderson 400 presented by The Cat Rental Store and Great Deals will take place at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, July 16. Annually, the most high profile event of the CRA Super Series Late Model season, it offers the richest purse and largest crowds of its Midwestern slate.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Indiana-based CRA Super Series is sanctioning the historic event. Greenfield's Kenny Tweedy won the inaugural event with the Late Model circuit in 2000, fending off challenges from two of greatest stock car drivers, Canadian Hall of Fame member Junior Hanley and Wisconsin veteran Scott Hansen.

Daleville's Bull Baker took the checkered flag in 2001 with Chet Fillip, Bobby Parsley and Junior Hanley claiming the last three events. Fillip became the first driver in history to win the Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 and the Anderson 400. Kentucky's Parsley earned the prestigious victory in 2004, holding off a furious challenge from Hanley. In 2004, Hanley emerged from a late-race battle with former series champion Scott Hantz.

The Anderson 400 presented by The Cat Rental Store and Great Deals has an impressive history with many of the top Late Model drivers competing in the legendary event in the previous 38 years. Tiny Lund of South Carolina won the 1974 race with Bobby Allison, Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson, Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace all making at least one appearance in the event.

The winner's list is a who's who of short track racing including Dave Watson, Mark Martin, Bob Senneker, Alan Kulwicki, Dick Trickle, Mike Eddy, Bryan Reffner, Kevin Cywinski and Gary St. Amant. Added with the recent CRA Super Series winners, the list is one of the most renowned in stock car racing.

On Thursday, July 14, Anderson?s premier bowling center, Cooper?s Sport Bowl will host a Bowling Tournament from 8-10 p.m. kicking off the Anderson 400 Weekend. Cooper's is located at 1920 East 53rd Street. For additional information, visit www.cooperssportbowl.com.

Activities for the 39th Annual Anderson 400 presented by The Cat Rental Store and Great Deals begin on Friday, July 15, with pole qualifying set for 8 p.m. The MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series will also be featured with Insight ThunderCars on the Oval and Figure 8 and Chappy's Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 racing.

On Saturday, July 16, a warm-up session is set for 5 p.m. with an on-track autograph session scheduled for 6. The 39th Annual Anderson 400 presented by The Cat Rental Store and Great Deals goes green at 8.

Advanced tickets for the 39th running of the legendary short track event are selling for $15. Included with this purchase is a free ticket to the MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series program on Friday, July 15, which includes pole qualifying for the Anderson 400. This is a $12 savings for the two events. On raceday, adult tickets will be priced at $20 with kids 6-12 admitted for $5. Five and under are free.
