CRA: Anderson Speedway to host three events in 2005

Salem, IN (December 1, 2004) -- Anderson Speedway will again be the sight of three CRA Super Series events in 2005. The famous high-banked quarter mile racetrack located in Anderson, Indiana has hosted more CRA Super Series events than any other track since the series first event ever on Saturday, April 26, 1997. Anderson Speedway has had a total of 36 CRA Super Series events to date. Former two time series champion Brian Ross is the all-time victory leader at Anderson Speedway with nine victories. Ross now competes full-time with the Hooters Pro Cup Series. Kenny Tweedy, the series first champion in 1997, is second on the win list at Anderson Speedway with four.

Anderson Speedway was good to CRA Super Series veteran racers in 2004. Jeff Lane started his three win 2004 CRA Super Series season with a victory in the season opener at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, April 17th. Canadian late model legend Junior Hanley came to Anderson Speedway for the Anderson 400 on Saturday, July 17 determined to turn around his 2004 season and he did in full force by being the events Corteco Fast Qualifier, then leading the most laps in holding off Scott Hantz in a thrilling ending to claim his first ever Anderson 400 victory.

Series veteran Jim Crabtree Jr. led from start to finish to claim the victory in the Sunoco 150 on Saturday, September 18th. Crabtree Jr. had to fight off 2003 series champion Bobby Parsley through out the entire event to claim his second career Sunoco Super Series victory, his first since May 5, 2001 at Shadybowl Speedway.

The first CRA Super Series event at Anderson Speedway in 2005 will be held on Saturday, April 16th. The track will host an open practice on the Friday evening prior to the event to allow extra track time for series drivers to prepare for traditional season opening event.

The CRA Super Series will once again sanction the 39th running of the Anderson 400 on Saturday, July 16th. Track owners Rick Dawson and Skip Waymire will once again host this prestigious CRA Super Series event that is recognized as one of the top traditional short track events in the country. The CRA Super Series first sanctioned the Anderson 400 in 2000. Kenny Tweedy got the honors of winning the first CRA Super Series sanctioned Anderson 400. Series veteran Bull Baker won the rain shortened Anderson 400 in 2001. Racing veteran Chet Fillip won in 2002, becoming the only driver in history to win both the Anderson 400 and the Little 500, the famous 500-lap sprint car event held each year at Anderson Speedway on the Saturday night prior to the Indianapolis 500. Bobby Parsley won the 2003 Anderson 400 on his way to claiming the series championship.

The third and final event for the CRA Super Series at Anderson Speedway in 2005 will be on Saturday, August 13th. This traditional CRA event always is the highlight of the fall portion of the CRA Super Series season as drivers start the final battles for the point's championship.
