CRA: Greg Boone to run 2004 season

Greg Boone To Run Full Sunoco Super Series Schedule in 2004 With Hopes of Capturing Rookie of The Year Honors.

Salem, IN (March 14, 2004) -- Louisville, Kentucky native Greg Boone has announced he will compete full time with the Sunoco Super Series in 2004 with the goal of capturing the series 2004 Rookie Of The Year Honors. Boone registered last season to compete in the Rookie Award Program, but only competed in four series point's events without earning a Rookie Of The Race Award. The series rules allow a competitor to compete for Rookie Of the Year if they have not competed in more than six series events in a previous season or earned a Rookie Of The Race Award.

Boone competed at all three Sunoco Super Series events at Anderson Speedway last year with a best finish of 11th at the Sunoco 150 on September 13th. Boone also competed in the series event at Columbus Motor Speedway were he finished 20th. Boone competed in one series race in 2002 at Anderson Speedway.

"I really enjoyed the events I have raced with the Sunoco Super Series over the past two seasons," remarked Boone. "The drivers in the Sunoco Super Series are some of the best around, you sure get your monies worth racing with that group of drivers, no matter were their racing at! I trashed my only car the first night out last year, that dropped us out of contention for the rookie program right away, we will be better prepared to make a better run this season."

Boone's cars will be built and maintained during the 2004 season by his Crew Chief Jeff Stith. The Louisville, Kentucky native is a veteran racer and winner, first in karts, and then in the Sportsman and Late Model divisions at the now closed Louisville Motor Speedway. Stith has competed in the Late Model division at Salem Speedway the past two seasons and has raced in selected Sunoco Super Series events over the past several seasons.

Boone will also have a racing veteran as his spotter in 2004. Former Salem Speedway Late Model Champion Pete Mayden will assist Boone at every series event in 2004. The Jeffersonville, Indiana native has competed in Late Models off and on for several seasons including getting a win last year at Salem Speedway. Mayden has two career top ten finishes with the Sunoco Super Series. Jerry "Chop" Hagen will also be a part of Boone's race team, providing mechanic help on race days.

"It feels really great to have put together such an experienced team for this upcoming season," said Boone. " Jeff will work full-time on my equipment this year, Jeff is a real racer and will do what ever it takes to get us competitive, he is a great fabricator and chassis set-up person. Pete has been a friend of mine for a long time, I feel real lucky to have such an experienced racer spotting for me. We are all looking forward to running the full Sunoco Super Series schedule and having a lot of fun this season. Hopefully we will be in contention for Rookie Of The Year at the end of the season and get a top ten finish in points!"

Boone's business, Boone Well Drilling, is a company specializing in drilling for Geothermal Heating and Cooling Systems and is located in Louisville, Kentucky. Boone started racing in motocross at age 12, and raced that until he was 22 years old. Boone then took up stock car racing at age 32 at Louisville Motor Speedway competing in the Sportsman and Late Model divisions.

Boone's #59 Boone Well Drilling Monte Carlo's will be powered by AP Racing Engines with 2004 Five Star ABC Bodies. Boone's cars are Lefthander Chassis's with suspensions from Advanced Racing Suspensions.
