GREG WOOD JOINS CHAMPION RACING ASSOCIATION IN FULL-TIME LEADERSHIP ROLE

The New Director of Operations has over 10 years of Active Involvement in Motorsports

(Salem, IN) -- Officials from Champion Racing Association (CRA) announced today that 10-year race official Greg Wood will join the management team of the Midwest sanctioning body in the new role of Director of Operations. He will also be active with CRA's role as promoter of Winchester Speedway.

Wood has been associated with CRA from the sanctioning body's first days, as well as being involved with Anderson Speedway since Action Entertainment, Inc. purchased the Indiana facility in 1997. The 38-year-old Mt. Summit, IN resident is married with two children and is very active with his church in New Castle, IN.

"Bringing Greg on board in a full time leadership role is a great step for our company," commented CRA Founder and Managing Partner R. J. Scott. "I've known Greg for over 15 years, and during that time, he has served in the formal and informal roles as consultant, business partner, advisor, confidant, and friend--and never once has he failed in those roles. For the past five or six years I've been telling people that he would make a great full-time addition to anyone's organization, so we finally took that advice ourselves."

Wood's background includes retail management, as well as special events organization. In motorsports, he has been a competitor and champion car owner, as well as Race Director for Anderson Speedway and served in a leadership role in the Technical Inspection arena for the CRA Super Series.

His new responsibilities are as diverse as his own experience and background. "Greg will basically be coming on to serve like another managing partner," noted Series Director and Managing Partner Glenn Luckett. "He will have much of the same responsibility and authority with this company that R. J. and I have. It was important to the growth of this company to bring in another person who has the leadership and organizational skills to do anything that R. J. or I can do, and probably more." Specifically, Wood will be involved with track and event management, technical advisory and sales.

For the lifelong race fan, and previously part-time race official, "this is a dream come true. I've been fortunate to learn from, and work with, a lot of great people in motorsports and getting the chance to take on this role is a once in a life time opportunity. I've been fortunate enough to watch R. J. and Glenn build Champion Racing Association into a short track industry leader, and I feel very fortunate to become part of that team in this new capacity. I've already worked with everyone on their staff, and know that they have surrounded themselves with some of the most honest and dedicated people in racing--who wouldn't want to be part of that?" Wood will be in his new role when the CRA Super Series opens their season Saturday, March 18 at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, for the All American 150.

Champion Racing Association is the Indiana based sanctioning body that oversees the CRA Super Series for Late Models, as well as the CRA Street Stocks and Sportsman. CRA is also in its second year as the promoter of Winchester Speedway, for facility owner Charlie Shaw.
