CRA: Indy IRP: Round seven preview

A Strong Field Of Cars Entered For The CRA Super Series Wastequip/Galbreath 100 Presented By Fatheadz At Indianapolis Raceway Park On Saturday

Salem, IN (June 15, 2006) -- The CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power has a strong field of cars entered for the Wastequip/Galbreath 100 Presented By Fatheadz this Saturday night at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The event will be run in conjunction with a 212-lap Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series event. This will be the third season in a row that the CRA Super Series as teamed with the Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series to put on this must see stock car event at one of the premier short tracks in the nation.

Current CRA Super Series point's leader Scott Hantz leads a large contingent of talented series regulars and guest that total 37 teams pre-entered as of Thursday. Hantz was the winner of the CRA Super Series event last year at IRP when early leader Evan Jackson had to pit with a flat tire on lap 86 handing the lead to Hantz who had battled Jackson through out but could never make the pass. Hantz held of Boris Jurkovic and Jeff Lane, both are entered for this Saturday's race, to get the victory, his third series victory at IRP tying him with the legendary Junior Hanley for second place in series victories at IRP. Brian Ross is the series all time victory leader at IRP with four.

Jackson, the winner of the CRA Super Series event at IRP in 2004, will make his season debut with the series this Saturday. Other top series entries include former series champions Chuck Barnes Jr., Bobby Parsley and Kenny Tweedy along with series regulars Eddie Van Meter, Jack Landis, JR Roahrig winner at Plymouth Speedway this past Sunday, Bull Baker, Andy Ponstein, Chris Gabehart, and Rick Turner. Michael Gaier, current leader in the CD-2 Rookie Of The Year Standings, leads a strong group of series rookies entered that also includes, Danny Jackson, John Van Doorn, Sondi Eden, and Rich Segvich.

Chet Fillip, a former winner with the CRA Super Series, as well as a competitor in open wheel cars with USAC along with having the distinction of racing in both the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 will drive for Tim Curry of FLF Racecars in the same car that Curry won with at Berlin Raceway on May 27th.

The CRA Super Series will have some southern visitors this Saturday, both from Chelsea, Alabama. Charlie Bradberry will make his first ever start in a late model at IRP, Bradberry has raced at IRP in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck. Bradberry has been on a roll of late with his GARC Chassis. Bradberry was victorious in the "South Carolina Clash" PASS South event at Florence Motor Speedway in South Carolina this pass Saturday night. He led all but 10 laps of the possible 200 during his back-to-back wins in the Blizzard Series race at Five Flags Speedway in Florida and the All American Super Late Model Series event at Birmingham International Raceway in Alabama on Memorial Day weekend.

The other southern visitor will be Josh Hamner, son of famed engine builder Jeff Hamner. The young Hamner just recently moved up to Super Late Model racing and recently scored a victory at Five Flags Speedway in a ASA Late Model Southern Series event. Hamner has been competing in the NASCAR Elite Southeast Series events and with the All American Super Late Model Series as well as the Blizzard Series at Five Flags Speedway.

The series IRP event has also attracted a Northern competitor, Josh Vadnais from White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Vadnais had a surprising 8th place finish in the CRA Super Series All American 150 season opener in Nashville and backed that up with a dominating victory in the NASCAR Elite Midwest and Southwest Series event at Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colorado on June 5th. Vadnais was the fastest in practice, fats qualifier and dominated the Auto Trader 150 in getting his nfirst ever victory with the NASCAR Elite Series.

Nashville, Tennessee driver Zach Taylor returns to series competition after great runs at both Winchester Speedway and Baer Field Speedway. Taylor will once again have the help of the Purdue University Opportunity Motorsports crew and Circle Bound Racing.

16 year old Landon Cassill from Fairfax, Iowa, who finished 14th in series points in 2005 running a limited schedule with a crate motor, will make his first series start since the season opening event at Nashville. Cassill recently won his first ASA Late Model Series North event at Lake Erie Speedway, and has been the Fast Qualifier at the last two ASA Late Model Challenge events at Oswego Speedway and Berlin Raceway. Cassill finished second in the Berlin race on Wednesday night to local favorite Brian Campbell.

CRA Super Series hauler parking for Saturday's event at I.R.P. will begin at 9am. Pits will open for the CRA Super Series teams at 9:30am, at that time teams can begin to unload and push all equipment from their haulers in the back parking lot to their assigned pit stalls in the infield of the track. Practice for the CRA Super Series will be from 1:45pm until 2:45pm. Qualifying will begin promptly at 3:30pm. The evenings racing program will begin at 7pm, the Wastequip/Galbreath 100 Presented By Fatheadz for the CRA Super Series will follow the Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series event.
