Joe Beaver Will Compete For Rookie of The Year Honors With The Sunoco Super Series

Salem, IN (March 2, 2004) -- Yockey Motorsports owner Ray Yockey has announced that his team, with driver Joe Beaver, will compete full-time with the Sunoco Super Series in 2004 with the goal of winning the 2004 Sunoco Super Series Rookie Of the Year. Yockey's team is based out of his racing business Backstretch Performance, which is located just outside the backstretch of Anderson Speedway, in Anderson, Indiana. Backstretch Performance provides a full line of racing and street performance parts and fabrication. Backstretch Performance is the Official Parts Supplier of Anderson Speedway, and is a sponsor with the Sunoco Super Series Rookie of the Year Award Program and sponsor of the Backstretch Performance Challenge, a bonus program for the three Sunoco Super Series drivers that have the best overall performance at the three Sunoco Super Series events at Anderson Speedway in 2004.

Yockey Motorsports has won five Season Championships at Anderson Speedway since 2001. Last year Yockey Motorsports was the sponsor of 1998 Sunoco Super Series Champion Brian Rievley, who picked up a win at the series first ever visit to Mansfield Motorsports Speedway.

"I enjoyed traveling to the Sunoco Super Series races last season with the Rievley's," commented Yockey. "I decided after the 2003 season that I would like to have my own team with the series and Joe Beaver was the natural choice as my driver. Joe has had tremendous success driving for me at Anderson Speedway in the SuperTruck division. With his tremendous racing experience, I believe Joe will have a great chance to win the 2004 Sunoco Super Series Rookie Of The Year Award."

Joe Beaver, a native of Noblesville, Indiana, has won thirteen Season Championships racing at Anderson Speedway, Mt. Lawn Speedway, and in his Modified. Beaver made a couple of Sunoco Super Series starts for Stewart Motorsports during the 2001 season. Beaver finished 19th in the Anderson 400 that season, then followed that up with a 7th place finish in the Sunoco 150 at Anderson Speedway.

Yockey Motorsports will use a Port City Chassis that was purchased during the off-season from veteran Sunoco Super Series competitor Bull Baker with Joe Beaver's traditional number 0 on the car. Yockey Motorsports is planning on using a sealed fuel injected motor from Schwanke Engines, which were approved for competition with the series for the 2004 season.
