CRA: Mike Eddy to compete at Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. (June 16, 2004) -- One of the most accomplished drivers in Midwestern stock car racing, Mike Eddy will compete in the 38th Anderson 400 presented by Corteco on Saturday, July 17 at Anderson Speedway, this event is the crown jewel on the 2004 Sunoco Super Series schedule as drivers compete for 400 laps for $10,000 to win.

The seven-time American Speed Association Champion will drive for Ohio car owner Jeff Miller. It marks Eddy's initial appearance in the Sunoco Super Series Late Models and his return to the historic Anderson 400. He last appeared in the event in1998.

In Anderson 400 competition, Eddy ranks first in top-10 finishes with 16 and tops the laps led category, pacing a total of 1,136 circuits. Other career stats include 14 top-five finishes, three pole positions and one victory. His win took place in 1992, finishing ahead of local hero Tom Jones and Iowa standout Brad Loney.

Eddy of Midland, Mich., has an impressive racing resume, topping many of the ASA record books. He is a seven-time ASA National Tour Champion (1974, 1976, 1981, 1982, 1989, 1991, 1992). He is the all-time career leader in laps led, starts and top 10s. He ranks second on the victory charts (58).

Driving for Jeff Miller in ASA, Eddy scored his 58th career victory with a dominating performance at Michigan's Berlin Raceway on June 12. He has competed on a part-time basis in 2004, marking his return to racing after a one-year hiatus.

Activities for the 38th Anderson 400 presented by Corteco begin on Friday, July 16, with Corteco Pole Qualifying set for 8 p.m. The MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series will be featured with the McCrocklin Ford & Mobility Legends, Insight ThunderCars on the Oval and Figure 8 and Chappy's Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives.

On Saturday, July 17, a warm-up session is set for 5 p.m. with an on-track autograph session scheduled for 6. The Anderson 400 presented by Corteco goes green at 8. General admission tickets for the event are $18 in advance and $20 on race day.
