Sunoco Announces “$10,000 Sunoco Performance Bonus Plan” Top 20 Teams in CRA/Sunoco Super Series Eligible for Share at Each Event

Salem, Ind. (February 28, 2002) – The Champion Racing Association/Sunoco Super Series is pleased to join Sunoco in announcing the “$10,000 Sunoco Performance Bonus Plan.” This plan will add over $10,000 to the total event purses for 2002, with the top 20 teams being eligible for their share of awards at each event.

At each race, the top five finishing teams in the top 20 in points (prior to the start of the race), not finishing in the top three in the race, will take home the following respective event bonuses: $150 – $130 – $110 – $90 – $70.

“The commitment that Sunoco has made to this series means a great deal to all of us involved,” noted CRA Managing Partner R. J. Scott. “This $10,000 Sunoco Performance Bonus Plan is just one of many programs that Sunoco has planned for the Sunoco Super Series. They’ve got programs planned to help the teams, fans and promoters. It will be really exciting to watch these plans unfold over the course of the summer.”

Sunoco representatives appear to be just as excited going into the 2002 season. According to Bud Talbot, Sunoco Area Manager, “We were a smaller player in the growth of the series in the earlier years, but when the opportunity came to be the title sponsor, we jumped on it. We knew what the series could do for us and what we could do for the series. Obviously we hope that the loyal fans of the series will be making their gas and convenience purchases at their local Sunoco Convenience Store. Sunoco will be doing several promotions with series events during the season!”

The 2002 Sunoco Super Series season opens at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway on Saturday, April 20.
