CRA Super Series To Race Big Holiday Event at Angola Motor Speedway in 2005

Salem, IN (January 3, 2005) -- CRA Super Series officials and Angola Motor Speedway officials have announced that Angola Motor Speedway would host a CRA Super Series event again in 2005. Angola Motor Speedway has had a CRA Super Series event on its schedule every year since 1998. The track had originally planned to have an event again in 2004, but the track was closed all season because of extensive renovations. Angola Motor Speedway will continue a past tradition by having a CRA Super Series event on the 4th of July Weekend, the CRA Super Series show will be held on Saturday, July 2nd. The track will have the Auto Value Wing Sprints and a 100-lap Outlaw Super Late Model event on Sunday, July 3rd.

Angola Motor Speedway owner Dick Poe has been a strong supporter of the CRA Super Series far several seasons. Poe is the car owner of series driver Scott Hantz the 2000 CRA Super Series Champion and two time winner and series points' runner-up in 2004. Poe is also the owner of EMF Engineered Wiring Systems and Race-Tech Engineering, both have been a long time sponsors of the CRA Super Series.

"I would like to thank Dick Poe for having the CRA Super Series at his great facility again in 2005," commented CRA Super Series Director Glenn Luckett. "We are really excited to be a part of the first season with the great improvements that Dick has made to the facilities at Angola Motor Speedway. His track will be one of the finest short track facilities in the region, and we look forward to being a part of their huge July 4th Weekend show!"

The CRA Super Series has had nine events at Angola Motor Speedway since 1998. Scott Hantz has enjoyed a "home court" advantage with three series wins to date at the 3/8 mile banked oval. Legendary late model driver Bob Blount is second in victories with two. 1997 series champion Kenny Tweedy won the last series event held at Angola Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 30th, 2003. Tweedy challenged Scott Hantz on his home track and came away with a hard fought win in the Electric Mills 150 that night. Tweedy started in the fifth position and steadily worked his way to second where Hantz held him in check for several laps until the 92nd lap, when Tweedy found an opening and drove past Hantz to take the lead for good. Hantz was a close second followed by 2003 series champion Bobby Parsley in third, Jeff Lane finished fourth, Tom Hernly Jr. rounded out the top five.
