David Bonnett To Run for 2000 ASA Rookie Honors Dunlop Golf to Serve as Primary Sponsor
PENDLETON, Ind. -- Focus Golf System (dba Dunlop Golf) has announced the signing of David Bonnett, son of the late Neil Bonnett, with Caton Motorsports to a full season sponsorship to compete in the ASA ACDelco Series for the 2000 season.
Focus Golf System, the exclusive licensee for Dunlop's North American market, designs, manufactures and distributes golf clubs, bags and accessories with the Dunlop Golf brand.
"I feel very fortunate to have been involved with Dunlop Golf over the years," said Bonnett, who has assisted Dunlop with various charities and golf outings. They have been a great supporter of me. I feel moving up to ASA with Dunlop Golf's support will be a great benefit to both of us and all of Dunlop's retail customers. I will also be able to run the #75 on my car this year, which means a lot to me, because it was the number my father had in Winston Cup in the '70s and '80s."
Since 1995, Focus Golf has been involved with various motorsports sponsorships and has utilized the racing industry to help promote the Dunlop Golf brand as well as regional sporting good stores, specialty shops, mass merchants and charities.
At each event, Dunlop, Bonnett and Caton Motorsports will promote a local retailer by displaying their logo on the car, along with a show car appearance at the store.
"We have seen the growth in racing and the millions of people that are influenced by it," said Vice President of Sales for Focus Golf Systems Mark Goad. "Not only are the fans influenced, but our customers are too. Dunlop Golf is the first golf company to involve themselves in motorsports. We have co-oped 75 races for our customers in various other local and national motorsports series and even a car at the local Greenville-Pickens Speedway, in Greenville (SC)."
"Having David race a full season for me this year in All Pro showed me first hand what a great driver I have," said Allen Caton, car owner for Caton Motorsports. "I believe our interaction with their customers during the race season resulted in enhanced sales and stronger relationships. That engagement can only be enhanced with moving up to ASA for 2000. We truly feel like we are a part of their racing team."
The 20-race 2000 ASA ACDelco Series will kick off its 2000 season March 24, 25 and 26 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland (FL). Other stops on the series include Chicago Motor Speedway, Gateway Intentional Speedway, Memphis Motorsports Park, The Mil waukee Mile and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
