Flat Rock Speedway 98-08-01

The ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series made their only appearance at the high banked 1/4 mile track. Current series points leader Frank Kimmell picked his way to the front taking over the top spot from polesitter and fast time qualifier, Rich Groetsch on lap 12. With 50 to go in the 150 lap contest Bob Strait caught Kimmell and over the final 10 circuits the pair swapped the lead. At the checkered flag Kimmell prevailed with Strait finishing second.

Ron Allen about a month ago lost a feature race with four laps to go with a mechanical failure. This week he won one that way. John Sullivan led the first 12 laps with John Briggs getting around him to lead. Ken Knight caught Briggs, as the duo battled side- by-side late in the race they tangled, sending Briggs' #94 into the turn one gate. Knight continued but Briggs' mount suffered considerable right side damage. The accident had one more casualty, the turn one gate was broken, leaving only one gate open for the remaining 3 features. Allen inherited the lead with three laps remaining and won his sixth A main division Street Stock feature.

Bryan Ausmus won the B main division 15 lap feature, while Doug Stump was victorious in the C Main.

Randy Cronenwett led from start to finish for his third win of the season in the Figure 8 division. Finishing a distant second was Parker Wade.
