Flat Rock Speedway crowned three champions Saturday night. Rick Knowles had a night that most drivers dream of. He won the Super Late Model feature and became the Super Late Model champion. The Willis, Michigan driver also picked up his fourth Street Stock championship. Knowles becomes the second driver in Flat Rock Speedway history to win the two championships in one season. Bob Studt was the last driver to accomplish this feat, winning both the Street Stock and Figure 8 titles in 1986.

Randy Cronenwett captured his first career Flat Rock Speedway Figure 8 championship after leading every lap in the 25 lap feature. Bob Studt finished second in both the feature and the championship race.

The race was red flagged twice. Once to clear the cars of Troy Herrmann and Mark Gobel who crashed and stopped at the intersection and another to collect the stalled car of Eric Buck from a dangerous area.

Brian Norton scored his fourth win of the season in the Street Stock A division. Championship contenders, Ron Allen and Rick Knowles settled for second and third.

A sad note was instilled into the evening's events when it was announced that "Crazy" Dave Whisman had passed away the previous Monday. Although Whisman spent most of his Figure 8 racing at Toledo Speedway, he raced several years at Flat Rock on the Figure 8 track. A collection in the grandstands and pits by the drivers raised $2,500 for the Dave Whisman family.
