Zobrist wins UMP Late Model feature at Fredericktown.

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- (June 28, 2002) Chad Zobrist continued his impressive performances at the Fredericktown Raceway Friday night by picking up another UMP Late Model feature win. Zobrist jumped out to a quick lead from his outside, front row starting position and was able to hold off the numerous charges of Mike Hammerle to pick up the victory. Charlie Savage captured third place with John Bohn fourth and Kenny Rumble fifth. They were followed by Ronnie Jarrells, Mike Abney, John Pitts, Shawn Estes and Henry Nash.

Savage won the first heat race with Rodney Pense second and Bohn third. Hammerle won the second heat with Zobrist second and Pitts third. Hammerle also won the "Dash for Cash" with Zobrist second and Savage third.

Karl Francis has also been very impressive in recent weeks and he continued his hot hand Friday night by winning the Pro Street feature. Rocky Stevens finished in second place with a hard-charging Chris Boyd third, Brad Mashek fourth and Ed Lenhardt fifth. They were followed by Mike Francis, Randy Kueker, Mark Howell, Billy Craig and Nathan Gibson. Mashek won the first heat race with Mike Francis second and Gibson third. Stevens won the second heat with Boyd second and Karl Francis third.

A jubilient Stevens won the trophy dash with Karl Francis second and Mike Francis third.

Pete Koenig ended another possible triple crown night by Theran Pearl in the Pure Street class by taking the checkered flag in the feature. Pearl finished a close second with Leonard Betch third, Brad Sutton fourth and Lenny Terrell fifth. They were followed by Brad Thurston, Charlie McDowell and Shawnda Bader.

Pearl won the first heat with Koenig second and McDowell third. Betch won the second heat with Darrell Jarrett second and Thurston third. Pearl won the trophy dash with Koenig second and Betch third.

In the RAMS Mini Stock feature, Rick Ruch of Perryville just continued to roll. This time the crafty driver took advantage of a restart, opened a big lead and crused to yet another victory (his fifth in a row). Kenny Harris finished a distant second with Jeff Bullock (driving the #17 truck of Jathon Cruse) third, Marty Boyer fourth and Phil Hannah fifth. They were followed by Nick Payne, Bill Nickelson, Rusty Voyles and Keith Buckley.

Boyer won the first heat race with Ruch second and Harris third. Ruch won the trophy dash with Buckley second and Bullock third.

There will be no racing at the Fredericktown Raceway on Friday, July 5th. Racing will resume on Friday, July 12th. That will be one of the special RAMS Point Series events at the track. For more information on any of the events at the Fredericktown Raceway phone (573) 78DRIVE.
