GARY TERRY TO VISIT ASA IN 1997 February 8, 1997

The American Speed Association series will be getting a new driver in 1997 as it has been announced that Gary Terry Racing, Inc., has purchased an ex-Carl Miskotten ASA car, with St. Joseph, Michigan's Gary Terry set to compete in a limited schedule.

Starting his racing career at 6 years old, the 18 year old Western Michigan University freshman, made a name for himself in 1996 after competing in the Limited Late Model class at the NASCAR Winston Racing Series track in Kalamazoo, Michigan, winning 7 feature events, finishing 3rd in the final point standings and being named the class' Rookie of the Year.

Also in 1996, Gary stepped into a late model car for the first time to compete in the prestigious Kalamazoo Klash, the annual event that drew a stellar field of 65 drivers, including NASCAR Winston Cup stars, Johnny Benson and Kenny Schrader.

Gary qualified 2nd fastest (just .001 second off fast time) and ran strong in the race finishing 2nd between veteran drivers Bob Holley, the winner and Michigan's most successful racecar driver, Bob Senneker, who finished 3rd.

Gary has tentative plans for racing in 5 selected ASA races, with his main concentration set for the NASCAR WRS track at Kalamazoo (MI) Speedway, where he will be competing as a rookie in the Super Late Model class.

Support the Gary Terry Racing Team, as this talented up-and -coming driver attacks the 1997 racing wars, sponsorships are now being accepted.
