Greenville, South Carolina - Greenville Pickens Speedway will be the site of the 1st annual Carolina Demolition Derby Championships on Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th. Drivers from at least four states are expected to enter the two night automobile slugfest that will crown a King or possibly Queen of the Demolition Derby in the Carolinas. Points will be kept over the two day format and will determine who the champion is from the finalists in each night's event.

$10,000 in prize money is up for grabs in the event. Each night will feature a complete demolition derby program with heat races and a main event finale.

The winner of each night's main event will receive a whooping $2000 for first place. Second place and third place will also receive prize money of $500 and $250 respectively. If the same driver wins both nights, then they will receive a $2000 Master of Destruction bonus posted by the promoter, Spectacular Event Promotions.

Additional bonuses are posted as well. If a female driver wins either night, then she would receive an additional bonus of $500 for the victory. If a Greenville Pickens Speedway driver, who races weekly at the historic half mile oval wins, there is an additional bonus of $500 each night up for grabs. Spectacular Event Promotions event director, Pete Walton says, "Several Greenville Pickens drivers have entered and more are expected to enter and I hope their oval track fans are there to cheer them on in this vehicle smash-o-rama contest."

In addition to the derby contest each night's program will feature racing in two of the Speedway's popular stock car divisions. The Street Stock and Charger classes will be contesting rounds one and two of the Street Stock and Charger Challenge Series. This will be a four race series for each division created by Spectacular Event Promotions that will crown a champion in each class off points from these two events and from races in each division during the Great American Motor Fair on July 3-6 and when both divisions are on the race program with USCS "Outlaw Thunder" winged outlaw sprint cars on Thursday, July 18th.

The Carolina Demolition Derby Championships program starts at 8 p.m. on Friday night May 17th and begins a half hour earlier on Saturday, May 18th at 7:30 p.m. All Rogers Stereo locations will have advance sale discount tickets on sale upon sore opening Friday, May 10th for Friday night's round one event and for Saturday night's finale.
