LAS VEGAS -- Dash for Cash provides extra excitement for IMCA fans Saturday night at the half-mile dirt oval at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
In a four-lap special event, Jason Pike held off three challengers to win the Unique Racing Enterprises' Dash for Cash. Pike was able to capture his second win of the night in the IMCA Modified main event by holding off Dan Fitzgerald. Pike was able to build a sizable lead before a caution flag was thrown that allowed Fitzgerald to close the gap. Pike was able to pull ahead on the final laps for the victory.
"The car was great," said Pike. "I went up high on turns three and four and down low in turns one and two."
After starting mid-field in the Hitchin' Post/ Exiss Legends Cars main event, Sonny Wahl was able to hold off Kyle Busch and Rob Russell for the win. Wahl ran side-by-side with Russell until Busch took the second position. Wahl donated half of his Dash for Cash winnings to Speedway Children's Charities.
"The car was working," Wahl said. "I think that we (Russell) both hit oil on the track. I do not know if he lost more ground. I was able to save it." In the largest Thunder Stox starting field of the season, Chuck Trickle picked up his first victory at the half-mile dirt oval by holding off Bill Vint on the final laps.
Brad Hopper took the victory in the Dave's Complete Auto Care Dash for Cash.
Bill Hasselle was the unofficial winner in the IMCA Late Model division.
