A stubborn rain front washed out the Indianapolis Speedrome's annual Triple-8 Championship night but not until Scott Tabor triumphed in the Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners 100-Lap mid-season championship.
Scott Tabor didn't know for sure that he had won Saturday night's 100-lap Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner feature until a recount of the scoring sheets proved his crew right. The wild 37-car race saw multiple spins and around-the-track action with young Nick Moore initially crowned king. Hours later Speedrome scorers finished a review of the scoring sheets and awarded the win to a jubilant Tabor. Moore was second with Randy Hutchison, Bill Hasson and Dusty Sapp rounding out the top five. April/May/June Roadrunner champ Jimmy Hardcastle was out of the race early with a flat tire as was pre-race favorite Todd Amos. The Roadrunners kick off a new points chase this Friday.
Rain washed out the remainder of the program including the Muscular Dystrophy Associations on-track autograph session and the Red Line Graphics Late Models annual Triple-8 championship. These events plus the Chuck's Race Car Parts and the Speedrome Hornets have been re-scheduled for this Saturday, July 12.
