(April 24) - Officials of the International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC) are pleased to announce that Andy Campbell, sportscaster for CBC-TV Halifax daily news shows "First Edition" and "Maritimes Tonight," has joined the IPSC family as "the voice of the IPSC." Campbell will be the IPSC anchor person over the public address system at all 11 races on the 2000 IPSC schedule. "We are very fortunate to have someone of Andy's caliber join us in this key position," said Joan Roui, IPSC Director of Public Relations. "Not only will Andy bring his great style and professionalism to the IPSC, but his enthusiasm for this endeavor is absolutely contagious. "We even got Andy out to Scotia Speedworld this past Saturday for a couple of hot laps in the Official IPSC Pace Car, provided by Motor Mart." A native of Oakville, Ontario, Campbell has been with CBC-TV Halifax for 2 1/2 years, and in professional broadcasting for 11 years. Campbell now resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia. "I am a sports fanatic," said Campbell, "but I've always been very intrigued by auto racing. This gives me the opportunity to see the other side of the sport and at the same I will be expanding my horizons and bringing a new audience to CBC-TV Halifax." Campbell will make his IPSC public debut in the IPSC season-opener, The Daily News 150 at Scotia Speedworld on May 6th. The Daily News 150 is the first event of the 11-race 2,000 schedule for the IPSC and the first of the five-race Scotia Speedworld Challenge Series which will see an additional $5,000 U.S. point fund paid out to the top 10 teams in the Scotia Speedworld/IPSC events. Tickets are now available for The Daily News 150 at the following metro Halifax/Dartmouth (Nova Scotia) locations: Amber Contracting; Forbes Chev Olds; Parts For Trucks; Racing Around (Chain Lake Drive); D & D Racing (Penhorn Mall); Scotia Speedworld.
