(HALIFAX, N.S. Feb. 13) - Management of the new Maritime Pro Stock Tour have confirmed 12 race dates for their inaugural season. Events will be held at four tracks throughout the three Maritime provinces. The schedule includes four races in alliance with the International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC) series. There will be no conflicting race dates between the Maritime Pro Stock Tour and the IPSC. Race fans will see many familiar names return to local tracks, including: Mike MacKenzie, Dan Eddy, George Koszkulics, Leo Cochrane, Stephen Brown, Marty Prevost, Scott Alexander, Dave Potter, Lonnie Sommerville, Tim MacKay, Cy Harvey, Mike Riley, Vance Hanes, Gordie Ryan, Dan MacKay, Barry Hubley, Donald Chisholm, Randy Jollimore and John Flemming. Mike MacKenzie, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has been racing in the Maritimes for over 20 years and is excited at the prospect of returning to tracks and seeing people he hasn't seen for a couple of years. "Our 2001 season looks real full right now," said MacKenzie. "Potentially, we can race all but three weekends between May 5th and September 15th, for a total of 17 events." Scott Fraser, from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, who has announced intentions to compete for Rookie of the Year honors in the mid-west based American Speed Association plans to race in the local series whenever his ASA schedule allows it. Fraser opens his 2001 ASA run this Saturday at St. Augustine Speedway in Florida, to be televised live on TNN at 10:00 p.m. AST. "We'll always consider Scotia Speedworld our home track," said Fraser. "We've run real good there and at many of the Maritime tracks. We will try to make it back whenever we can. We've got a car waiting at the shop in Shubenacadie."
