Jackie Boggs rolls to Renegade Stars win at KC Raceway
(Chillicothe, OH - April 20, 2002) Jackie Boggs of Grayson,KY started the "northern" portion of the 2002 Renegade DirtCar Racing Series schedule on a winning note Saturday pocketing the $10,000 to win "5th Annual Spring 50" at K-C Raceway near Chillicothe,OH.
Starting fourth in the main event aboard his Swartz Race Cars / T & H Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the second generation driver worked his way past early race leader R.J. Conley on lap 27 to take the lead. Boggs then worked his way through heavy lapped traffic and held off seventh starting Davey Johnson by three car lengths for the victory. Finishing third after starting tenth was Mike Balzano followed by Steve Shaver and Conley.
Completing the top ten finishers were Rick Aukland in sixth trailed by Rod Conley then 16th starting John Mason, Rob Blair and Tim Dohm. Boggs nearly had drivers dream on the night as he lowered the one-lap track record during time trials with a blistering 13.465 second pass around the high-banked 3/8ths mile track, breaking the old mark of 13.573 seconds. Boggs then captured the first of the night's heat races and went on to take the feature race. Courtesy Bret Emrick - Renegade Stars Dirt Car Series
