FULTON, NY - The Stadium International Trucks / Pit Stop Convenience Stores No. 87 DIRT Modified racing team, owned by Eric and Gisele Kingsley of Fulton, are ready for the 2001-racing season with their talented young driver in Racin' Jason Barney of Constantia.

Barney, 21, is carrying the momentum of a strong 2000-season in which he scored his first career DIRT 358-Modified victory in a barnburner over track champion Ron Holmes at the New Utica-Rome Speedway.

Beginning with this month's DIRT Winter Series in Florida at Volusia Speedway Park and April's Super DIRT Series special at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in North Carolina, the capable team will compete weekly in Central New York at the Fulton and New Utica-Rome Speedways. In addition, Barney will also race in selected DIRT Big Block Modified events. Armed with two new 2000 Teo Pro Cars, and power provided by Mike Moshier Racing Engines, the team should be in contention for an excellent 2001 season.

"I am really excited about the upcoming year," said Barney. "Hopefully, we can have some good runs and maybe win some races."

Barney, a former Quarter Midget, Micro Sprint, and DIRT Sportsman driver will compete in Florida at Volusia from February 12-17 in the four scheduled DIRT Winter Tour races. On the way home, the team will stop on February 19 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway for a scheduled DIRT Modified practice session on the new 4/10-mile dirt track in preparation for the much anticipated inaugural Twin 50's Super DIRT Series events April 6-7.

At Fulton Speedway in 2000, Barney finished sixth in season point standings with six top fives and eleven top ten finishes. His best finish at Fulton was a second place to Mitch Gibbs on August 5. At Utica-Rome, Barney had one top five and four top tens along with his win on August 20 in the highly competitive 358-Modified class.

With his well-earned feature win at Utica-Rome in 2000, Barney became the youngest driver to win a 358-Modified feature at the track. In addition, he also holds that same title for the Sportsman division at Utica-Rome and at Fulton as well, where he was the Sportsman track champion in 1996 at age 16.

"The last few years have been tough on me, but the win last year at Utica-Rome and other good runs we had gave me a lot of confidence and I think we can build on that in 2001," said Barney.

Stadium International Trucks along with Pit Stop Convenience Stores provide the main backing for the young team. Joining the sponsor list for the 2001 season are LTS Enterprises & Towing, Haun Welding Supply, Fulton Spring Service, and T & W Truck Equippers.

"I'd like to thank Eric and Gisele, the crew, my fans, and all my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to drive for such a good race team," said the well-spoken Barney. "I would not be able to do it if it was not for them."

Keep an eye on the up and coming Stadium International Trucks / Pit Stop Convenience Stores No. 87 DIRT Modified team and driver Jason Barney at the Fulton and New Utica-Rome Speedways along with the DIRT circuit this season.
