Hamilton, Biever and Flurer Comprise Formidable Trio For 2005

ERWINNA, PA - Hopefully, Jason Hamilton scored well on those pesky multiple choice tests in high school.

The sophomore driver will certainly have plenty of options for the 2005 racing season.

Erwinna, Pa.'s Hamilton was named the driver of Buddy and Robin Biever's No. 114 big-block Modifieds last weekend. The BRB Racing efforts will compliment Hamilton's self-owned No. 15 Sportsman Modified team and Doug Flurer's No. 16 small-block Modified operation.

The Bievers, veteran car owners who have fielded first-class equipment in the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area for many years, tapped the 29-year-old Hamilton to compete in a schedule of big-block Modified events yet to be finalized.

The new combination has tentative plans to compete in the '05 version of the Southeast Series (known to be in the planning stages). They will also hit any other midweek specials and pre-season high-profile events.

Hamilton will utilize the '04 Teo-Pro car campaigned by Billy Pauch in New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway's Superstars of Stock Car Racing Series with fresh Wide Open Competition big-block power. A second Teo-Pro car is on order.

Hamilton, who propelled from 250cc Micro-Sprint racing to gain a wealth of notoriety in one Sportsman/358-Mod season, is justifiably enthused to join BRB Racing, a proven entity in dirt Modified racing.

"They are gambling," Hamilton admitted. "They saw what I did last year and they're giving me a shot that doesn't happen that often. They're investing in me.

"Buddy and his wife Robin enjoy getting a college quarterback and taking him to the NFL," he continued, making reference to Craig Von Dohren and Duane Howard, both of whom have wheeled the No. 114 cars.

In a press release put out by BRB Racing, Buddy Biever stressed his confidence in Hamilton's ability behind the wheel and outside the cockpit.

"We have watched Jason progress over the last year or two and feel he brings a hunger to win to the table as well as represents his sponsors very well and that is important to the No. 114's tradition on and off the track," Biever said.

For Hamilton, it is an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Pauch, the versatile Frenchtown, N.J., racer he considers a childhood hero. "For me to have an opportunity to drive a car he stepped out of, it's definitely big shoes to fill," acknowledged Hamilton. "If I even come close to what he's done, it will be an accomplishment."

The BRB Racing opportunity will comprise only one facet of Hamilton's 2005 schedule. He will race weekly at Big Diamond (Pa.) Raceway on Friday evenings and is in the midst of finalizing Saturday night plans. He'll use his equipment (a 2003 Teo-Pro car) and Flurer's '05 Teo-Pro car for weekly action. Both will feature Dave Van Horn Sr. power.

"I really appreciate what Doug Flurer has done to help us progress to this level," emphasized Hamilton, who carried the Flurer Machine and Tool colors on his car for the 2004 season.

Indeed the breakout '04 season was a whirlwind for Hamilton.

After mastering the hardscrabble PA Micro wars, he won the New Egypt Rookie Sportsman championship, then returned to the Garden State oval a month later to post a Sportsman feature win. He collected three wins at the tough Big Diamond facility, including the Hoover Chevrolet 50 on Sept. 10.

In small-block Modified competition, he raced to 12th in Grandview (Pa.) Speedway's Freedom 76 and charged from deep in the field to finish eighth in the famed Coal Cracker 100 at Big Diamond.

He scored "post-season" podium finishes in Thunder Mountain (N.Y.) Speedway's King of the Mountain and Accord (N.Y.) Speedway's Turkey Chase 100 (winning one of four 25-lap segments).

Hamilton's ability to perform well on so many levels was enough to convince Biever, who openly discussed sitting out 2005 altogether, to remain in the sport. "We had considered sitting out the entire year just to enjoy our kids and attend some races, but we decided to stay involved and just run a select number of events."

Biever's schedule fits perfectly with Flurer's and Hamilton's, providing a race driver's dream: three top-notch race teams.

"Between the three of us, it could only lead to good things," surmised Hamilton. "It's the complete package."
