LEGENDS: Jimmy Parker on LVMS victory

Jimmy Parker, Jr. celebrates first Pro/Master Legends victory at the Bullring

LAS VEGAS -- Jimmy Parker, Jr. finally has a victory at the Bullring after coming up just short in the first four races of the season.

Though he was the leader in points, Parker hadn't been able to finish up front until this past Saturday. He finished just ahead of Taylor Barton, who already has two wins to his name this season.

This is the first year that Parker is running in the Pro/Master Legends division, and is only the second year racing for the 17-year-old. He drives the No. 7JR Pro Legend car, which is owned by Quality Motorsports.

A passion for racing has always been a part of the Parker family, going back to Jimmy's great-grandfather, who was also a driver. His grandfather built racing engines, and his father, who also used to drive race cars, is now a shock specialist and crew chief of five race cars, including Parker Jr.'s car.

Parker gives all the credit to his parents for the opportunity they have given him to race, and also for all the support that they have provided him throughout his first two years in racing.

After being asked how it felt to be in victory lane this past Saturday, Parker said, "I have no idea what I'm doing here, but it feels great. It was a just a great race, and I want to thank my mom and dad. They are everything to me, and they're the greatest."

After piling on a few more points to his lead this past weekend, Parker will be at it again this Saturday on Armed Forces Night at the Bullring, where all military personnel with I.D. will be admitted free of charge.

Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:15 with racing at 7:15. General admission is $11 for adults, $9 for senior citizens/ military personnel and$4 for children 6-12. Children five and under are free. A Family Four Pack can be purchased for $24. Admission to the Stockyard is $36 per vehicle (up to four people).
