The 2006 season set to go as the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division set to open the doors for the ASA Late Model Series in 2006 at the Bronson (FL) Motor Speedway.

(Lexington, Michigan 11/17/05): The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts 2006 season is fast approaching and will be here before we know it. Drivers, fans, and teams alike are already planning ahead for next season based on where the ASALM Series 2006 travels will take them.

The first official event of the 2006 season for the ASA Late Model Series will surely draw waves of interest from teams from both the Northern and the Southern Divisions as well as those running the televised Challenge Division. Especially those teams looking to get acclimated to the template body/crate engine set-up.

The ASA Late Model Series Southern Division will open up the 2006 season overall for the ASA Late Model Series on Saturday March 4, 2006. The former Southern All-Stars Pro Late Model Series will kick off the 2006 ASA Late Model Series season with the inaugural Florida 100 at the fast 1/3 (.333) mile high-banked paved oval of the Bronson (FL) Motor Speedway just outside of Gainesville, Florida!

The Inaugural Florida 100 will mark the first ever event under the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division banner and will give teams that also plan on running the televised Challenge Division as well as the Northern Division an early season showdown in preparation for each teams respective 2006 seasons.

The former Southern All-Stars Pro Late Model Series saw Fredrick Moore win the series title in 2003 while Chris Whorton won the series titles in 2004 and again the Boaz, Alabama pilot took the title during the recent 2005 campaign.

Bronson Motor Speedway Promoter, Mike Cope is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division and has already planned ahead for an expected record crowd at his 1/3 mile high-banked paved oval which recently saw the track itself completely resurfaced.

"We've already purchased an additional 2000 seats for this show and for future events!" Said Bronson Motor Speedway Promoter, Mike Cope. "We're looking forward to this race and are truly honored to be the site of the first ever ASA Late Model Series Southern Division event." Cope continued. "We also want to let all the teams know that from now until the 2006 series opener, the track is available for rental." He added.

The speedway also has many amenities available for camping during the first weekend in March as they have electricity and water available at some of the pit slabs as well as a spacious parking lot to park motor homes and such throughout the 2006 opener for the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division.

The day before the Inaugural Florida 100, Friday March 3, 2006, Cope has also offered to host an all-day test and tune at the Bronson, Florida speed plant for the teams of the ASALM Series Southern division to get some much needed track time in preparation for the 2006 opener!

ASALMS Southern Division Tech Director, Randy Rabinowitch added. "This is a landmark show. We're looking to make history down South and what a way to start the 2006 season off right." Said Rabinowitch. "We're expecting a huge field for this event and a lot of interest has come from teams from all over the country!" He added.

Florida Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Harvey Wallbangers, similar to Pure Stocks in the Midwest, are the regular show on Saturday nights at the Bronson, Florida speed plant. For more information about the Bronson Motor Speedway, log onto their website at: www.bronsonmotorspeedway.com

The ASA Late Model Series Southern Division is also taking applications for various staff positions in 2006. Ranging from tech officials to race director, and a part-time traveling P.A. Announcer. The next scheduled event for the ASA Late Model Series will be the 2005 Awards Banquet to be held at the Quality Hotel/Summit Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday January 14, 2006, beginning at 6pm. The ASA Late Model Series will honor the 2005 ASA Late Model Series Champion, Stephen Leicht, as well as the 2005 Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year, Brian Campbell and the top twenty drivers in the final points standings.

In addition, the GM Performance Parts Winner's Circle participants will be awarded as will the GM Performance Parts Shootout Points Champion, Mark Hartline along-with special sponsored awards and some surprise awards will be handed out as well.

The banquet is a semi-formal event and we encourage everyone to put on their best. The ASA Late Model Series will continue with the tradition that started with the first annual banquet to begin the awards presentation first followed by dinner and dancing. Everyone is welcome to attend and to celebrate the 2005 season. Attendance is mandatory for teams receiving awards. Tickets for the banquet must be purchased in advance through the ASALM Series Office.

Earlier that morning on January 14, 2006, the 2006 ASA Late Model Series Owner/Drivers meeting will also be held at the Quality Hotel/Summit Center from 9am-Noon. This meeting will be open for all three divisions and its' participants and the ASALM Series encourages all teams that plan on running with any of the three traveling series in 2006 to attend or send a representative to the meeting.
