2005 Super Pro Series Rookie of the Year, Justin Kazmar to run select events within the ASA Late Model Series in 2006. Eyes towards rookie title in 2007.

Lexington, Michigan (01/23/2006): Registrations continue to pour into the home offices of the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts. Some of the top drivers in their respective divisions are looking forward to taking the next step up the racing ladder.

One more driver has announced his intentions to run at least a partial 2006 schedule with the ASALMS Northern Division and one tentative event with the televised ASALMS Challenge Division with hopes of moving up full-time in 2007. 2005 M.I.S.S. Super Pro Series rookie of the Year, Justin Kazmar will make his ASALMS debut this season.

"We want to run some ASALMS Northern Divisions shows and hopefully do well enough to get noticed." Stated Kazmar as he talked about his 2006 season. "We're going after the Super Pro Series Championship this season for sure! We're looking forward to 2006, especially after finishing out last year as strong as we did." The 21-year-old Wolverine State driver added.

Kazmar was the 2005 M.I.S.S. Super Pro Series Rookie of the Year with five Top Five finishes and eight Top 10 showings. Kazmar closed out the 2005 Super Pro Series season with two third place finishes and a fourth to clinch the Freshman title on the last night of the season. Kazmar beat out season long rookie points leader, Michael Gaier by 53 points to secure the freshman title.

The M.I.S.S. Super Pro Series utilizes rules identical to the ASALMS and runs primarily in the state of Michigan and is based at the Springport (MI) Motor Speedway between Jackson and Lansing, in Springport, Michigan. Kazmar would also crack the Top Five overall in Super Pro competition and would finish fifth overall in the final points chase for the Super Pro Series.

The Battle Creek, Michigan driver would also run a Michigan Modified, primarily at the Spartan (MI) Speedway where he won one feature and recorded six Top Fives and an impressive 16 Top 10 finishes to go with 3 fast times. Justin would go onto finish fifth in points at Spartan and eighth overall in the Michigan Modifieds Association (MMA).

Kazmar started racing go-karts at Michiana Raceway Park (MRP) in 1997. In 1998 he was voted the most improved junior driver award and in 1999 he would go on to win the championship in the Yamaha Light division by winning seven races and finishing second once in the eight race season.

In 2000, and just after he turned 16, Kazmar started racing in open wheeled Modifieds. In his fourth ever race, he won his first heat race. From 2000-2002 he only raced part time at Spartan (MI) Speedway and Owosso (MI) Speedway. In 2003, his first full year racing in the Michigan Modified Association (MMA), Kazmar would win his first career feature at Owosso to go with three Top Five finishes. He finished sixth overall in the state wide MMA.

In 2004, Kazmar broke out with three feature wins, three second place finishes, and 12 Top Five showings in his Modified. Justin would only miss the top 10 once all year at Spartan. Kazmar also had five fast times and finished second in the points championship at Spartan while finishing eighth overall in the MMA. Kazmar would also win the Most Improved Modified Driver Award at Spartan.

For the 2006 season, Kazmar Racing will run between 4-6 events in the ASALMS Northern Division to maintain his rookie of the Year eligibility for the 2007 season. Kazmar tentatively will also run in one televised ASALMS Challenge Division show in his home state of Michigan, at the Berlin (MI) Raceway on Wednesday June 14th. In addition, Kazmar will be running for the 2006 M.I.S.S. Super Pro Series Championship.

Kazmar carries sponsorship on the side of his Chevrolet Monte Carlo from one single sponsor; Sign World Concepts. Otherwise, the team is made up entirely of family members. The Kazmar Racing Team is actively seeking sponsorship for the 2006 season.
