Local Nashville driver to make ASA debut

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (May 31, 2001) V The Luxaire 300 presented by HechtRs Department Store will mark the debut of Nashville late model competitor Andy Johnson, who will be driving the number 8 JVEE-M Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the upcoming American Speed Association (ASA) ACDelco Series race at Nashville Speedway USA on June 1 - 2, 2001.

Johnson, a regular participant at Nashville Speedway USA for the past several years, has taken a few weeks off from his local late model efforts to focus on his first career ASA start, joining forces with JVEE-M Racing.

SWe tested at Nashville several weeks ago and I feel very comfortable in the car,T said Andy Johnson. TJVEE-M Racing has supplied a competitive package and we are looking forward to being very competitive in the race.T

Jeff Miller, co-owner of the JVEE-M Racing team, will serve as crew chief for the Nashville event. Miller is a veteran crew chief and was crew chief and team manager for Robbie Pyle, the Rookie of the Year runner up during the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series seaso n.

SWe are excited to have Andy in the seat of our Howe Monte Carlo this week,T said Miller. SAndy ran very competitive lap times during our test session and we look forward to his track knowledge being a huge asset during the race. We will have veteran ASA d river Tom Harrington assisting our efforts this weekend and, with his extensive knowledge of ASA cars and Nashville Speedway USA, we feel this will be a big bonus to our efforts.T

On Friday, June 1, ASA practice begins at 11 a.m., with qualifications taking center stage at 4:30 p.m. The 100-lap qualifier race goes green at 7:30 p.m., followed by Nashville Speedway USA Late Models and Super Trucks. On Saturday, ASARs exclusive on-tra ck autograph session is scheduled for 6 p.m., with pre-race ceremonies starting at 7:15. The Luxaire 300 presented by HechtRs Department Store goes green at 8 p.m.
