MACS Officials hospitalized

Indiana, PA --- Bill Protzman, 65, of Butler, PA, a former racecar driver, car owner and race official for 40-plus years, is recuperating in a Butler, PA hospital after undergoing open heart surgery on Thursday August 12. Protzman is the MACS Technical Director, a position he has held since MACS' inception eight years ago.

Protzman underwent double bypass heart surgery on Thursday and doctors are also attending to other health concerns that will eventually see Protzman undergoing additional surgeries an additional four separate times over the next 42 weeks. Protzman hopes to be released within the next seven days after heart surgery. Protzman was admitted to the hospital on Monday.

Protzman has served as the MACS Technical Director for the past eight years after serving in a similar capacity with Lernerville Speedway and Challenger Raceway. Protzman is married to Nancy, a former MACS official.

Another MACS official was also hospitalized on Monday. Kim Geesey, who handles sign-in registration for MACS, has been hospitalized in a Indiana, PA hospital for problems of a severe intestinal nature. Mrs. Geesey, wife of MACS Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Line-Up Steward Matt Geesey, will be hospitalized for the foreseeable future and may be moved to a Pittsburgh, PA hospital if surgery is required. Mrs. Geesey has been in charge of sign-in registration for MACS for the past seven years.
