Mooresville, NC (Monday, July 21st, 2003) - - Davin Scites Motorsports (DSM) left Madison Friday night all smiles, as the team rallied back from several disappointing weeks and collected a top five finish at the Oregon, WI based facility.

Heading into Madison, it had been an exciting, yet busy week for the West Virginia based operation. The team was rolling a new car to the track this week, while also signing an 11th hour sponsorship deal with Modifiers Scale Diecast/Scrap Vinyl for the event.

"We are extremely excited about having the opportunity to work with Modifiers Scale Diecast/Scrap Vinyl this weekend," said Scites.

Davin, along with the rest of the American Speed Association teams arrived at Madison International Speedway early Friday, and quickly began going to work.

Scites, a former late model driver clocked the 16th fastest lap in the first practice session, clocking a lap in 19.013 seconds equaling a speed of 94.672 MPH, which placed him 18th on the speed charts.

"We're happy with the car, but we're still going to make some adjustments in hopes of making our Chevrolet Monte Carlo faster," added Davin.

In the second and final practice session for the teams, Scites had picked up the pace considerably. Scites, whipped his No. 06 around the track in 18.737 seconds amounting to a speed of 96.067 MPH, almost a half second faster than the first session.

"We're are extremely pleased with the car, but we're still trying to catch up to the leaders, and hopefully qualifying will go our way."

In time trials, Scites was a tick slower than his practice session. Scites would start the BF Goodrich Tires from the 23rd starting position, after notching a lap in 18.790 seconds, transferring to a speed of 95.796 MPH.

"We're a tad off, but I think we'll bounce back for the race, the main thing is that we are in the show," noted Scites after qualifying.

The drivers took the green flag shortly after 9:00 pm EST, with Scites began making his charge on the field.

Using patience, the Modifiers Scale Diecast/Scrap Vinyl machine was clicking off some fast lap times, while trying to battle his way to the front.

During the course of the first pit stops, Scites' crew made some adjustments in order to help the car turn better, which would give Scites a better advantage to try and pass his competitors.

The changes had seemed to work, as Scites patiently was picking off cars, one by one, while still staying ahead of the race leaders in a race filled with cautions.

In the end, Davin was able to cross the line fifth, for his third top ten finish of the year, and his second top five finish, which also included a win earlier this year at Concord.

"Man, this was a great night, and what we were looking for," said an excited Scites after the race. "I am proud of this whole team, they work hard and give 150% and this finish is just another reason why teamwork pays off."

Scites, wanted to give a special thanks to his new sponsors.

"I have to give a special thanks to Modifiers Scale Diecast/Scrap Vinyl people for coming on board this weekend."

"We had a great race, we had a new paint scheme and we received some great exposure, which is always a plus for our sponsors," Scites added.

He also mentioned "We're hoping that they liked what they saw in the American Speed Association, and within the team and will lead to further opportunities in the future," said Scites, who collected "rookie of the race" on Friday evening.

The series will take a week off before heading to the legendary bullring of Berlin Raceway, in Marne Michigan on August 2nd.
