Pablo, MT - On Saturday, October 7th, 2000, the Mission Valley Auto Racers held their annual awards banquet at the KwaTakNuk Resort in Polson. The racers came together end of their 2000 racing season to celebrate the year's races and accomplishments.

The racers, families, friends and sponsors enjoyed an evening that included a social and dinner hour, an awards ceremony as well as music and dancing.

The 2000 Mission Valley Speedway Trophy Queen, Becca Long, a Ronan High School student and daughter of Lisa and Guy Stinger presented awards throughout the ceremony.

Pitman of the year was awarded to Bud Watt
Hard Luck of the year was Chuck Swope
Sportsman of the year went to Lynn Olsen
Most Improved Driver was Brad Lee

A rookie of the year plaque was awarded in each racing class to the new driver who accumulated the most points during their first year in a given class.

High point rookie of the year in the Bomber class went to Howard Lilly.
High point rookie of the year in the Budweiser Compact class went to Alvin Brester.
High point rookie of the year in the MGD Light Hobby Stock class went to Carl Nordberg.
High point rookie if the year in the Alamon Telco Formula Indy's went to Robert Ragland
High point rookie of the year award went to Chris DeReu in the Pepsi/Pizza Hut Super Stock class.

Bob Lulow, Mission Valley Speedway's track promoter along with past president, Duane Olsen presented plaques of appreciation to both the Polson and Ronan Volunteer Fire Departments as well as the Polson Ambulance Service, for their continual support and attendance each weekend during the racing season!

Mission Valley Auto Racers also thanked and would like to acknowledge the many sponsors and local businesses throughout the Mission Valley Communities that make each year of racing possible. Some of those being, the Jore Corporation, Mission Mountain Tire - Les Schwab of Polson and Ronan, Sun Rental in Polson, Mission Valley Auto, Buffalo Express Auto Parts, Timberlane Auto, Bob's Auto Mart, Pizza Hut - Polson, and Zip Beverage & Earl's Distributing of Missoula. There are many more sponsors that support the MVS drivers and teams, too numerous to mention so on behalf of MVAR "Thank You"!

Another highlight of the end of this 2000 racing season was the completion of Motorheads-The Story of Mission Valley Speedway, a 55 minute video documentary detailing the 31 year history of speedway action in Pablo, Montana. The video was documented by the Teleproductions Center of Salish Kootenai College under the direction of videographer Frank Tyro and writer Walter Simon. Motorheads has it all, video archives, interviews and track action of racing cars that compete at MVS, plus a special Motorhead Music Video composed and played by Atombombpocketknife - an emerging Chicago based alternative rock group.

Strong focus is placed on local fans and a commercial community that faithfully support and sponsor the Mission Valley Speedway Season. Other unique aspects of MVS are that it is the only speedway in the United States that is a non-profit, membership ran, speedway, and the only one built on an Indian Reservation.
