Rhoads Rallying for ASA Midwest Tour Championship
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (March 21, 2007) -- The American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment has signed 27-year-old AJ Rhoads from Hastings, Minnesota, as an enrolled challenger for the inaugural 2007 season Championship.
"I like all of the challenges traveling offers -- different tracks, different competitors, and traveling with the crew. The Tour is going to many new tracks that I haven't been to in the past. I am hoping that it is like it used to be in the ARTGO days; traveling with friends and family and just a lot of fun," AJ declared.
Rhoads has been whizzing by the competition on Minnesota's short tracks for 14 years. He has loaded up on copious feature wins in several divisions between the Elko Speedway, I-94 Raceway, and Raceway Park -- all domains on the 2007 ASAMT lineup. He also grappled with the best in the nation in the 2004 Toyota All Star Showdown with the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Series.
"AJ has a lot of touring experience from the last few years. He and his crew always show up ready to make a charge for the front. It has been fun to watch AJ over the years as a weekly racer and as a tour driver. His sister Megan is always there to help him out. AJ will do very well this year with his years of racing experience. It will be a pleasure to have AJ along on the tour this inaugural season," contributed ASAMT Assistant Race Director Eric Peterson.
AJ takes the reigns away from the racetrack as Concrete and Masonry Supervisor and Truck Driver for Dakota Rhoads Masonry and earmarking time with his 11-year-old son Cole, dog Hercules, and potbelly pig Missy. He also finds time to fabricate custom Harleys and classic cars.
"I'm looking forward to all of the Minnesota races because Molly and I will have a lot of family and friends there," Rhoads added.
