Fredrickson To Contend For 2007 ASA Midwest Tour Title

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (January 18, 2007) - Dan Fredrickson knows what it takes to win. He's done it just about everywhere he has raced. When the 2007 American Speed Association Midwest Tour opens it's inaugural season at Elko (MN) Speedway, Fredrickson, who lives not far from the track, will be one of the favorites to contend for the win. As the 2003 Elko Speedway Late Model Track Champion, he definitely knows how to get around his home track.

Fredrickson began his racing career driving a Super Truck three nights a week, tying for the Track Champion with longtime friend Conrad Jorgenson at Raceway Park (Shakopee, MN). As an up and coming young racer, Fredrickson drove in only one career Legends Car race, which he won at the I-94 Raceway (Sauk Centre, MN). After one season in the Super Trucks, Dan moved to Late Models and seemed to find success at many different tracks following his Elko Championship. Touring experience with the old ASA National Tour and the NASCAR Midwest Series allowed him to tackle different types of tracks throughout the country. In the 2006 NASCAR Midwest Series, Dan captured three wins and came up a couple of points short of taking the Championship.

Fredrickson likes the concept of the American Speed Association Midwest Tour, comparing it to the old ARTGO Challenge Series. "Every time the tour would show up at the track, the track would have their own stars against the touring cars and it just was a better show," said Fredrickson. This looks to be revived with the format that will be used with the American Speed Association Midwest Tour. "When you start off at Elko there is going to be eight guys figuring that they are going to beat the tour guys. And there will be eight tour guys figuring that they are going to beat up on the local guys. It's going to be the top show."

Most of the tracks are familiar to Fredrickson. The only tracks that he hasn't raced on are Jefferson (WI) and Norway (MI). "I like tracks like I-94, Kaukauna (WI) and Raceway Park, the real tricky ones, the ones that are hard to get a hold of," said Fredrickson. "I struggled at Kaukauna for a few races and once I caught on, I really liked it." He would go on to set the ASA National tour track record at Kaukauna.

Several sponsors will be along for the ride this year. Genz-Ryan Plumbing and Heating, Brothers Jorganson Racing, Turtles Bar and Grill will be joined by recent additions Pirtek Custom Hoses & Assemblies and Menards.

Fredrickson looks to be one of the contenders in the ASA Midwest Tour point standings as he feels that the running at several different people's home tracks will make the Championship race interesting. "Where ever someone is from, they are probably going to run better at that particular track," said Fredrickson. With Dan running well at most tracks, that should put him at the top of the mix. But, there are other drivers that will also be in the same position as him, such as Steve Carlson. "Steve is going to be good where ever he goes." With the experience and set up knowledge that Fredrickson has, a lot of the people will be saying the same thing about him as the 2007 season goes on.
