Nashville is Mark Dismore best finish

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mark E. Dismore captured his first career top-five finish in the ASA ACDelco Series, finishing fifth in the BFGoodrich Tires 300 on Sunday afternoon. After an incident on lap two involving 17 cars, Dismore ran in the top-15 for the rest of the afternoon on the way to his best finish of the season.

A major accident on lap two caused a red flag period, as two cars were heavily damaged by fire and another 15 cars were involved in the incident. Dismore escaped without any damage and was able to pick up five positions. Through good pit strategy and a good race car, Dismore came home with a fifth place finish and moved up to second in the 2000 Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie-of-the Year standings.

"What a good race for us," Dismore said. "This was really hard-earned. This is a very physical and mental track, so it was the right place for us to pick up our first top-five. The guys did a good job in the pits and Howie (Lettow, crew chief) made some good calls. I'm glad for this Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com/MCI Worldcom team. We've been capable of running this good all year long. It looks like we're finally getting going."

Stan Herzog, co-owner of Herzog Motorsports was excited to see the No. 44 entry obtain its first top-five finish of the season. "Mark did an awesome job out there. The wreck on the backstretch could've been disastrous for us, but he drove through it and had a great race. It's a great way for this team to rebound after the last couple races."

Heavy rain forced ASA officials to call off qualifying on Saturday. The field was then set by current points standings, placing Dismore and the No. 44 Monster.com/WorldBestBuy.com/MCIWorldcom Chevrolet Monte Carlo 17th in the starting line-up.
