New track for Super Car Series

The Iceman Super Car Series has added the new Erie, Pennsylvania, Lake Erie Speedway to their schedule for 2001. The race is scheduled to take place August 24th.

The track is set to open in late June of 2001. "We are thrilled to add the Iceman Super Car Series to the Lake Erie Speedway calendar," said Speedway General Manager and Co-Owner, Todd Melfi. "We chose the Iceman Series based their reputation for competitive, safe racing and their willingness to work with our group on every aspect of the race."

In addition to the Iceman Series the new Lake Erie Speedway will host Cup Lites, Bandeleros, Oval Street Stocks, Late Models, Trucks, Modifieds and Legends. As a NASCAR sanctioned track there is a date pending for a Busch North Event.

"The Lake Erie Speedway is going to be a state-of-the-art racing facility that will make for some exciting racing, the Iceman Series is looking forward to being part of their inaugural season," commented Iceman Series Director Jim Hennessy.

The Iceman Series, www.icemansupercars.com, is a late-model series that competes in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio. 2001 marks the 14th year of competition for the Iceman Super Car Series. Starting 24 cars at each 100 lap event ensures the fans get to see competitive racing in a fun, exciting, safe and affordable environment.

The Lake Erie Speedway, www.lakeeriespeedway.com, currently under construction in Erie Pennsylvania will be a state-of-the-art, paved, 4/10 mile facility. The NASCAR sanctioned Speedway will host both weekly racing series and touring series events.
