ENGLISH TUNES UP FOR HAT, STAYS UNBEATED AT PIR by Jeff Adams
With many of the nations finest drivers coming to Paducah International Raceway next weekend, the big question remains: Can anyone stop Terry English? English picked up his 5th win of the year in 5 attempts at the PIR oval, and swept the UMP Late Model division in winning the dash and his heat. English tuned up for next weekends' Hav-A-Tampa race, holding off Randy Sellars and Eddie Pace for the win. In the UMP Modified division, Jeff Cone fought off points leader Brent Glastetter, Scott Houston, and Junior Lemmings for the win. Les Riley returned to victory lane in the Pro Stock division, with Chad May picking up his first win of the year in the Classic Coupe division. Randy Owen inherited the Street Stock win after apparent winner Rowdy Burris was disqualified. Heidi Hutchinson became the tracks second winner in the Cruiser division. Next weekend, the Hav-A-Tampa late models will make their only appearance of the year at the PIR oval. The 75 lap feature race will pay the winner $10,000. Advanced tickets are on sale, and can be purchased by calling (502) 898-8103.
