Pocono Mountain Speedway race report/rsults 2001-04-21

During the extended run, there were quite a few attempts to under brake into turns 1 and 3, but no one was able the complete the pass. At the line, Markovic took the win, followed by Snyder, Hauser Jr, Frantz, and Beers in the top 5.

In the Late Model feature, a couple cautions early in the race, changed the leaders around. pole-sitter Dean Kline Jr took the lead on the opening lap, but pulled onto the infield, handing the lead over to Don Holland. Nate Correll, Mike Radocha Jr, Troy Bollinger, and Jason Arthofer rounded out the top 5. Following a yellow on lap 4, Correll took the lead on the restart, leading the rest of the way to the checkered. Radocha Jr had a steady run to finish 2nd, followed by Artholfer, Holland, and Mike Schwab the top 5 finishers.

In the Pro Stock feature, Rick Giannino Buzinski led all but 1 lap, for the win in the Street Stock feature, while Mark Corbisiero netted the Factory Stock honors.

Lee Schatzenbach was a double winner for the visiting Sling Shots, winning a heat and the feature.

NEW BONUS PROGRAM FOR WINNERS AT POCONO MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY

Pocono Mountain Speedway is proud to announce inception of the BONUS AWARD PROGRAM. Whenever there is a field of 25 or more cars in a division the winner of the race will be awarded a bonus amount above the posted purse. The Modified Bonus is $300, Late Model: $250, Pro Stock $100 and Street Stock $100. This is another reward for the Pocono Mountain Speedway drivers who put on a great show for the fans week in and week out.

SUNOCO RACE OF CHAMPIONS QUALIFIERS TO BE HELD MAY 13

Pocono Mountain Speedway is proud to host a qualifier for the Sunoco Race of Champions. The winner of each division running May 13th will be awarded a gauanteed starting position in the Sunoco Race of Champions to be held at Oswego Speedway, October 5-6. Many competitors can be expected on this day as this is the only Sunoco Race of Champions Qualifier in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Competitors and fans will be greeted to the continuing upgrades and improvements that the Speedway is doing to ensure the comfort of all for years to come. For example the Speedway has just completed a Phase of the Reconstruction plan that included asphalting the portions of the Pit Area where the racecars travel most.
