Budds Creek, Md. -- Potomac Speedway hosted its final I.T.S.I. Budweiser Super Late Model feature of the season this Sunday, the $2,000 to win 44-lap Ronnie McBee Memorial. Jim Bernheisel of Lebanon, Pa. took the checkered flag in the event, leading all 44 laps. It was Bernheisel's second win of the season.

Allen Brannon of Winchester, Va., who finished third in the event, took home the I.T.S.I. Budwesier Super Late Model points championship title. It was Brannon's second year in-a-row for winning the title.

Johnny Smith of Severn, Md., picked up his third win of the year in the Bell Motor Company Late Model feature. P.J. Hatcher of Mechanicsville, Md., got his second win of the year in the Coors Light Pure-Street Stocks. Robert Holmes of Berryville, Va., picked up his second win of the season in the Potomac Speedway Four-Cylinders. John Sellner of Huntingtrown, Md., visited victory lane for his first career win in the Cliff's Heating and Air Conditioning Enduro/Hobby Stocks. Cory Hanson of Mechanicsville, Md., took the checkered flag for the first time this year behind the wheel of Rick Jackson's car in the Chesapeake Web Design Bomber division.

Jack Coburn sponsored the children's bike giveaway. Eleven-year-old Cory Ryder of Lexington Park, Md. was the lucky bike winner.

Thirty-three cars attempted to qualify for the 44-lap Ronnie McBee Memorial Budweiser Super Late Model event. James Adkins Jr. and Jim Bernheisel made up the front starting row of the 30-car field. The caution flag waved twice before lap one was put in the books by Bernheisel who took the early lead in the event. Adkins looked to the inside of Bernheisel a couple of times in turns one and two, but wasn't able to make a bid for the lead. Bernheisel led all 44 laps, through 16 cautions, to take the checkered flag followed by Adkins in second. The 2001 I.T.S.I. Super Late Model points champion, Allen Brannon, came from a 13th place starting position to finish third in the event. Defending Budweiser Super Late Model points champion George Moreland finished fourth followed by Tommy Wagner Jr. in fifth. Moreland, Wagner, Ernie Jones, and Darryl Hills won the heat races.

Paul Barham started on the pole and led the way in the first six laps of the 20-lap Bell Motor Company Late Model event, holding off challenges from Sommey Lacey. On lap seven, Barham spun in turns one and two, collecting Lacey. Both cars were able to continue as no caution flag waved. Third-place runner Johnny Smith then took over the lead. Smith led the way to put the next two laps in the books when Paul Cursey dove to the inside of him as they exited turn four on lap nine to take over the lead. Cursey continued to show the way until lap 16. He got caught up behind a lapped car. Smith made a bold move diving to the inside of Cursey on the backstretch to retake the lead. Cursey stayed glued to Smith's rear bumper, but Smith went on to take the checkered flag in the caution free event. Cursey finished second followed by Ronnie Hollidge in third, Lacey in fourth, and Barham in fifth. Smith also won the heat.

Jimmy Jesmer started from the pole position and led the way to complete lap one of the 15-lap Coors Light Pure-Street Stock event. On lap two, P.J. Hatcher and Stevie Long were both able to pass Jesmer to take over the top two spots. Long then challenged Hatcher for the lead, but Hatcher was able to hold him off. Hatcher then began to pull away from the rest of the field. He went on to take the checkered flag finishing with about a half straight-a-way advantage over Long. Joe Scaggs finished third, followed by Chris Nelson in fourth, and Jamie Lathroum in fifth. Tommy Hitt and Joe Scaggs won the heats.

In the 12-lap Potomac Speedway Four-Cylinder event, Rodney Hoffman started from the pole and led the way to complete lap one, holding off Bob Tester Jr. On lap four, Tester and Robert Holmes both challenged Hoffman for the lead, making it almost three-wide as they entered turn three. Tester was able to get the position followed by Holmes in second. Tester put one lap in the books when Holmes challenged for the lead on the backstretch. He was able to make the pass for the lead in turns three and four. Holmes then went on to take the checkered flag followed by Tester in second, Calvin Wright in third, Greg Keister in fourth, and Scotty Nelson in fifth.

John Sellner started from the pole in the 15-lap Cliff's Heating and Air Conditioning Enduro/Hobby Stock event and led the way as the green flag waved. Ben Bowie challenged for the lead on laps six and nine, but Sellner held him off. The race experienced five long cautions, leading to the race having to be shortened because of the feature time limit. On lap 11, the field was given the signal that they would be receiving the green, white, then checkered flags. Sellner continued to show the way. On the last lap, Bowie made a bid for the lead as they exited turn two. The two ran side-by-side down the backstretch and into turns three and four. Sellner got the advantage as they exited turn four, taking the checkered flag. Bowie finished second, followed by Joe Adams in third, Dave Bryant in fourth, and Marty Page in fifth. Bowie and John Latham won the heats.

In the 15-lap Chesapeake Web Design Bomber feature, David Cooper started from the outside pole and jumped out front as the green flag waved. On lap five, Cooper got loose as they exited turn two. Brian Thompson dove to the inside of him. The two ran side-by-side with Thompson making the pass in turn four. Cooper pulled his car in the pits on lap seven. On lap 13, Cory Hanson made a bid for the lead as they exited turn two. Hanson was able to make the pass for the top spot and went on to take the checkered flag. Thompson finished second, followed by Ronnie Doss in third, Rob Hitt in fourth, and Jerry Oliver in fifth. Dale Moore Jr. won the heat.
