Robbie Pyle to Compete for Rookie of the Year with ASA in 2000

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (December 14, 1999) - Young Motorsports of Montgomery (Ala) has announced that Robbie Pyle will run for Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year honors with the team for the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series season.

Pyle, a native of Columbus (Ohio) will join the team that fielded a car in 1999 for veteran ASA competitor Tom Harrington. Harrington will again run a limited schedule for car owner Lanny Young.

The 31-year-old Pyle is a four time ARCA Pro-4 Champion. He competed in six ASA events in 1996 and 1997, along with making one Craftsman Truck Series start. In 1998, Pyle ran in the Winston Racing Series at Columbus Motor Speedway, where he finished seco nd overall. Pyle scored an ARCA win in 1999, along with starting five All-Pro races.

"This is an opportunity that will receive my total attention and dedication to assure that Young Motorsports will have a successful season," said Pyle. "This is a great year to come into the ASA ACDelco Series with all the changes. I believe it will make for a level playing field and true competitive racing."

The Young Motorsports team will operate out of the Columbus shop of JVM Racing, owned by Jeff Miller, who will serve as the crew chief for the team. Under the direction of Miller, JVM Racing has fielded cars in numerous divisions and raced with drivers th at include 1998 ASA National Champion Gary St. Amant, Mike Stacey and Dick Dunlevy, Jr.

"Robbie has shown a tremendous improvement in the last two years," said Miller. "I really believe that with the level of confidence Robbie and I have in each other, and the dedication of this team, he will be a serious contender for the Rookie of the Year award. Mr. Young has provided all the needed resources to be competitive and we are very excited to be a part of this inaugural season with the ASA ACDelco Series and the Vortec Red V8 program."

Sponsorship announcements for the team will be made in the near future.

The 20-race 2000 ASA ACDelco Series will kick off its season March 24, 25 and 26 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland (Fla). Other stops in the series include Chicago Motor Speedway, Gateway International Speedway, Memphis Motorsports Park, The Milwa ukee Mile and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
