ROMCO Super Late Model Series Receives Verbal Commitments

LONGVIEW, TX (November 19) -- The ROMCO Super Late Model Series will hit Texas like a tornado next season, having already received verbal commitments from four racetracks for its 2005 schedule, new series owner Terry Dickerson announced Friday.

Dickerson's company, Trackside Entertainment, purchased the ROMCO Super Late Model Series from Robert Mullins recently. Mullins directed the series for six years.

Dickerson is negotiating with Houston Raceway Park, Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, TX, San Antonio Speedway and Corpus Christi Motor Speedway concerning dates on its 2005 schedule.

"These tracks have helped make the ROMCO Super Late Model Series what it is today, and we're pleased to keep this relationship going," Dickerson said. "We want to take this relationship to the next level. We expect to complete next season's schedule by December 15th and have a super year in 2005."

Bradley Riethmeyer, the 2004 ROMCO Super Late Model Series champion, won one of the series' three races at Houston Raceway Park last season.

"It's a great series," Houston Raceway Park Promoter Graham Baker said. "We had them race here three times last year and four times in 2003. I have raced with the series as well, but I'm too busy running the track to race any more. It's an awesome series and we're excited to have the ROMCO Super Late Model Series return to Houston Motorsports Park."

Colt James was the winner of two of the three events the series ran at Thunder Hill Raceway in 2004.

"It's great," Thunder Hill Raceway Promoter Brian Callaway said of the ROMCO Super Late Model Series and its plans to continue racing at his 3/8-mile oval. "We have some of our biggest crowds when they race here. They have been racing here since the series' inception (in 1998). I believe Terry Dickerson has what it takes to take it to a higher level."

Michael Crofford's August 14th victory at San Antonio Speedway was one of his two with the ROMCO Super Late Model Series last season.

"We have verbally committed to four races next year," San Antonio Speedway Promoter Mike Sepich said. "We're truly excited that Terry Dickerson has purchased the series. He will take the series to next level. He is a very innovative promoter. We need to generate excitement in this series and it's promoters like him who can make it happen."

Greg Davison, T. Wade Welch and series runner-up Brandon Bendele won ROMCO Super Late Model Series events at Corpus Christi Motor Speedway in 2004.

"We've been negotiating and we're interested in having the ROMCO Super Late Model Series race with us again at Corpus Christi Motor Speedway," Promoter Owen Pittman said. "They raced here three times last year." -- Trackside Entertainment Public Relations
