Tampa, Fl- Bobby Beauchemin, Davie, Fl. Picked up his third win in a row Saturday night, September 22, at Desoto Speedway as he continues his recent domination of the SARA Executive Racing Schools series in 2001. The event was stop number 12 of the 16-race schedule in the chase for the championship.

The night started out slow as the resent rains continued to fall in Central Florida causing a 4-hour rain delay. Due to the late start time the starting line-up was determined by current series points standings giving the pole position to Beauchemin and Jason Boyd of Orlando, Florida driving the GPC/Right hand man Chevrolet. The second row would consist of veteran races Wayne Morris of Mulberry, Fl and Goody's Dash Series Regular Edward Howell of Lakeland, Fl.

The race took 3 tries to get started with the most scariest wreck occurring on the original green flag, 5 cars were involved when the throttle stuck in the Rol Gasket Monte Carlo of Brent O'Neill. As the field went into turn one O'Neills car would dive low going into one and collected the cars of Keith Lilley, Chip Shell, Bill Close and Ronnie Skipper. Shells and Closes mount would spin to the infield and out of harms way. The other three automobile involved would find themselves stacked on top of each other with the fuel line being ripped loose from the O'Neill ride. Fire broke out from the fuel spill and started to engulf the automobiles, Track Rescue Inc, was quick to respond and get the situation under control. All drivers had gotten out of the cars under there own power and escaped uninjured, the only cars able to continue was that of Chip Shell and Ronnie Skipper whose car looked more like an Open Wheel Modified but managed to stay on the lead lap despite all that the team went threw. The race was red flagged for 30 minutes while SARA and Track officials ready the track to return to safe racing.

The race finally got started and Beauchemin would take the lead. The main competition came from Wayne Morris and Jason Boyd both putting heavy pressure on the leader. The current points leader held off the charges of Morris and picked up his 4th win of the season and extended his points lead for his second consecutive SARA championship. Beauchemin would lead all 100 laps in route to his 5th win of the season. Rounding out the top 10 were Joe Sumasky, Michael Williams, Edward Howell, Joe Boyd, Brad Barkis, John Jackson, Chad Allman and Chip Shell rebounding from the first lap fire to record a top 10 finish.

The highlight of the night's events saw Derek Strong, Professional Basketball Player for the L.A. Clippers make his series debut at Desoto Speedway. Strong started 28th in the 30-car field and earned a 15th place finish in the final run down. Strong and Veteran Edward Howell were joking on the front shute and Strong said he was ready for another 100 laps. Strong looks to return to SARA action some time in October depending on current schedule with the L.A. Clippers.

The next event for the SARA Executive Racing School Late Models will be back at Desoto Speedway on October 13, 2001 for round number 13 in the chase for the championship.
